Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design productssuch as electronics, plastics, instruments, controls, etc. May beinvolved in the fabrication, operation, application, installationand/or repair of mechanical components of electronic products.Primary Duties and Responsibilities* Works closely with other engineers for the management of new productintroduction including vendor sourcing, approvals, and costing. Ensuresthat quality criteria are met for all products.* Provides support to Product Manag ement, Manufacturing and EngineeringChange Request program for existing products, processes and equipment.Recommends design changes to improve quality, manufacturability and ease ofassembly.* Provides leadership to manufacturing personnel in developing andimplementing product and process improvements.* Develops and maintains accurate and detailed reports that include paybackperiod and return on investment, and routing and methods documentation toestablish the manufacturing process, drive cost reductions, and provideequipment and tooling justifications.* Provides input to Quality Assurance Manufacturing regarding the developmentof test equipment and methods of testing for reliability evaluation, andquality assurance and inspection requirements, including use ofmicroprocessor based automated test equipment.* Coordinates all key and support projects proficiently with InternalSoftware, Marketing, Materials and Production Control, Purchasing, Accounting, Manufacturing, Suppliers and Customers.* Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.* Ten (10) years of experience in mechanical engineering for electronic parts.* Ability to communicate effectively with a wide audience, both technical and* non-technical.* Strong customer service skills.* Ability to identify problems and develop solutions.* Goal oriented.* Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately.* Change management skills.* Project management skills.* Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Solid Works or equivalent CAD software.* Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used bythe department.
