We are seeking a Technical Sourcing Specialist, to provide support of the implementation and alignment of sourcing strategies and build supplier networks to manage multiple RD/NewProduct Introduction sites across global categories to achieve business objectives.

A Day in the Life
Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Operations for Patient Monitoring, you will Work closely with RD teams during the design, prototyping, and approval process for new product development to select suitable suppliers based on technology.
Collaborate with peers across category management to drive supplier consolidation and increase spend with strategic partners.
Develop and maintain strong productive relationships with local and overseas vendors
Actively research new manufacturing entities, techniques, trends and best practices, and apply this information for both internal and outsourced production
Proactively review component life cycle status for designs, drive material standardization
Maintain an up to date project log that accurately identifies the product and vendor of each item
Generate purchase orders, control logistics, and track orders to completion and delivery
Manage quality control issues of all incoming product and vendor relationships
Manage and maintain inventory on all samples
Complete special projects as needed or requested
The Technical Sourcing Specialist has the key responsibility for selecting suppliers and purchasing materials, components, and/or services consistent with specific levels of quality, delivery, and total cost. The key relationships include, but are not limited to the following:
Manufacturing: Coordinate material deliveries in accordance with the project plan and advises when deliveries cannot support the plan.
Quality Engineering: Participate with the quality engineers in completing supplier evaluations and quality audits. Utilize the quality engineers to aid in resolution of supplier related quality issues.
RD/Operations Engineering: Provide information/feedback in assuring that Covidien specifications are manufacturable. Provides input on available sources, costs, lead time, and new technologies.
Planning: Provide accurate lead time and input regarding order modifiers for the purpose of MRP accuracy.
Cost Accounting: Provide standard cost of newly released components and reviewing and updating standard cost of existing components (annually) through transition to plant procurement.
Accounts Payable: Provides input to assure resolution on any supplier invoicing problems.
Suppliers: Primary contact for all supplier communications with respect to total cost, delivery, quality, specifications, and contract obligations.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree required
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience
Nice to Have
Expert knowledge of products purchased, good purchasing practices and policies, Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) Applications, and contract law.
Knowledge equivalent to and/or receipt of ISM and /or APICS certification.
Effective written and verbal technical and interpersonal communication skills in order to deal with the technical and interpersonal aspects of the position.
Strong negotiation skills.
Demonstrated ability to write and negotiate complex contracts/agreements.
Effective analytical, technical, and problem solving skills.
Effective planning and organizational skills.
Effective verbal presentation skills to small and/or medium sized groups.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects and multiple priorities.
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to use common software tools for spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation tasks.
