Primary Objective of Position:Under moderate supervision and at a fully competent level, independentlyevaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques andprocedures using sound judgment to make minor modifications and adaptations.Primary Job Responsibilities:Design automated fluid handling machines including mechanical andelectro-mechanical machine design from definition to fabricationFamiliarity with process piping calculations (pipe networks, fluidmechanics and thermodynamics)System component sizing, including pumps, valves, heat exchangers, etc.Work cross functionally with mechanical, electrical, and softwareengineers, and other key product development contributorsFamiliarity with control systems and control systems programmingTest, debug, and revise new machine designs based on testing before finalrelease for useHelp maintain and support existing testing systems in the US and overseasMaintain engineering drawings and documentation for test equipmentLead or contribute to the implementation of new testing systems world-wide.Willing to work hands on with test equipmentWrite financial justifications for new systemsAbility to manage complex projects with multiple vendorsTravel internationally once to twice per year for up to three weeksDetermine the nature and scope of assigned projects, as well as budget andschedule parameters, and delegate appropriately to developmental engineers.Determine the technical design criteria for the project.Ensure that appropriate background information, such as part designs,materials specifications, and governing code requirements, has beenresearched and incorporated into the design effort.Perform necessary design calculations for the project.Prepare schematic designs for the project based on rough sketches and notesprovided by others.Assist in determining material quantities and specifications for the project.Coordinate with other disciplines involved in the project as necessary.Attend progress briefings and coordination checks to discuss the engineeringeffort and project status.Document all design criteria, calculations performed, and decisions made.Prepare studies and reports when appropriate.Direct and oversee the efforts of technicians, designers, and draftersassigned to the project.VEVRAA Federal ContractorRequest Priority Protected Veteran ReferralsEqual Opportunity Employer-minorities/females/veterans/individualswith disabilities/sexual orientation/gender identity
