We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer working on satellite systems to join our team located in Centennial, CO. Under general supervision with limited review, this position is responsible for determining and developing effective approaches for resolving a wide range of difficult engineering problems. Assignments are normally outlined in terms of overall objectives and anticipated results. Work is reviewed at milestones or at completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Documents findings, communicates results to engineering staff and makes technical presentations as required. May coordinate segments of a specific project and may have frequent inter-organization and customer contact on difficult technical issues. Provides direction to design or technical staff and may provide direction to less experienced professional staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures that program technical resource needs are defined and met by working with the functional organizations to identify and secure appropriate staffing.
As an Engineering lead works in concert with Chief Engineer, and Project Manager, to lead system and product development efforts.
Represents the engineering functional organization to Project Management of assigned programs and projects.
Evaluates the integration of the engineering solution within the overall engineering environment; and ensures that appropriate documentation, testing, maintenance, and engineering updates are completed, in accordance with Systems Engineering best practices.
Organization of all engineering work to support the project integrated master schedule (IMS) and budget per the project management Plan (PMP)
Assist in the management and execution of the IMS
Lead development of engineering inputs to program IMS
Provide day-to-day prioritization of tasks as planned in engineering schedule
Work with PM/scheduler to update engineering manpower estimation
Be accountable for Engineering tasks budget, schedule and technical performance
Tracking and reporting of engineering schedule metrics
Coordinate program risk management identification, assessment, tracking and reporting.
Lead and facilitate preparation and execution of major program milestone reviews (System Requirement Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR) and Test and Operation Readiness review) ensuring entrance and exit criteria are satisfied.
Supports development of interface control documents, software requirement specifications, performance specifications, and review test plans/procedures.
Supports the integration, verification, validation and documentation of requirements through the system development cycle.
Communicates with engineering professionals, solution users, and management throughout the solution development cycle, and represents the company as a prime technical contact on contracts and/or projects.
Leads support for proposals/white papers, and interfaces with customers as well as providing formal documentation to make technical presentations as required.
Supports technical leadership on product design, development and improvement projects in concert with Program Management.
Works with functional engineering leads to develop Basis of Estimates for engineering support to projects.
Presents engineering work products in periodic reviews to senior staff and customers.
Formulates plans, typically long-term, for solution(s) development, documentation, and deployment, as well as meeting various compliance, reporting, and safety standards.

Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, enabling an effective interface with customers and other departments and/or professionals; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact, as well as providing leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.
Ability to demonstrate an extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones, with some experience in project leadership.
Requires flexibility, persistence, consistent display of composure, and skill in achieving shared goals when handling competing high priorities with rapid turnaround time in a multi-contract environment.
Multi-tasking team player with a hands-on approach; customer-focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.
Familiar with Earned Value Management (EVMS) work package management or similar schedule/cost framework and supporting EVMS statusing.
Understanding of Risk Management processes, practices and policies in order to implement risk management on executing programs as well as assessment in support of proposals.
Knowledge Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project) are required and familiarity with Windchill, Atlassian, and SAP software products are desired.
Experience with Requirements Management Systems, support requirements and lifecycle planning and integration for DOD systems is desired.
Must demonstrate strong leadership, technical-, team- and project- management skills
Must have proposal development and project planning experience
Repeatedly demonstrated ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones
Has broad, multi-disciplinary technical expertise and a history of applying of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice
Working knowledge/experience of space systems product lines and customers and DOD experience is highly desired.
US Citizenship is required.

Active DoD Secret Security Clearance is desired.
