The MITRE Enterprise for Space Analysis (MESA), a coalition of defense analysts and engineers from across MITRE, provides high quality, comprehensive, quantitative insights for the senior government decision makers shaping the future of our nation’s space policy, operations, and systems.

The MESA team offers class-leading Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A), enabling MITRE and sponsor-driven analysis and research in all space mission domains. MESA leverages synergies from multiple customers, missions, and technology providers to offer comprehensive analytical capabilities.

Responsibilities Include:

Serve on a dynamic team assessing the utility and performance of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaisance (ISR) and space control sensors, SSA command & control (C2), and Space Battle Management C2 (BMC2) concepts and systems against sponsor requirements.

Provide technical analysis support to SSA enterprise-level architecture trade studies.

Analyze and model sensor concepts, develop sensor configurations and scenarios, identify performance measures, and conduct analyses using relevant simulation tools.

Propose software code changes and enhancements as needed to improve model/tool capabilities.

Develop technical reports and presentations on analysis results, options, and recommendations

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Mathematics or related discipline

Required Qualifications:

Familiarity with physics-based modeling and simulation tools to solve national security challenges in the context of space

Experience using computer languages such as Java, Python, MATLAB, C, or, C++.

Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to reach out to technical expertise

Excellent technical writing and presentation skills. Self-starter capable of working in a dynamic environment

Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

2+ years of experience in a related field

General knowledge of radar and electro-optical sensor systems and computer-based modeling and simulation

Experience with developing physics-based modeling and simulation tools and applying those tools to address research questions

Experience with understanding simulation results, identifying areas for additional focus, and extracting critical lessons learned

Experience with sensor/architecture analysis and modeling/simulation.

Knowledge of

o SSN sensors, tasking, and Concepts of Operation (CONOPs)

o SSA C2 systems and experience with sensors/C2 architecture integration, analysis, and modeling/simulation. Knowledge of Joint Space Operations Center functions including catalog maintenance, conjunction assessment, and space event detection/processing

o Space BMC2 systems and experience with threat assessment, kill-chain, and counter-space analysis and modeling/simulation.
