As an astrodynamics engineering specialist, you'll be a keymember of teams that are developing innovative new missions and capabilitiesto ensure the U.S. can compete, deter, and win in the space domain. Thequalified candidate will provide mission design and astrodynamics analyticalsupport to government customers as they transform current missions and inventnew capabilities. Emphasis will be in the areas of space domain awareness(SDA), offensive space control (OSC), defensive space control(DSC), and enhancing the resilience of other mission areas in the SpaceForce enterprise architecture. Customers include the U.S. Space Force, theSpace Security and Defense Program (SSDP), Space and Missile SystemsCenter (SMKey FunctionsConduct a range of modeling, simulation, and analysis in areas such asspace mission design, orbital maneuvers, orbit estimation, spacedebris, and space situational awarenessProvide technical support to AFSPC Space Warfighting Construct and SpaceEnterprise Vision activities, including the Core Architecture Team, andthe Space Security and Defense ProgramInteract directly with Aerospace program office personnel and governmentcustomers in the Colorado Springs area and collaborate closely with Aerospacepersonnel in other locationsProvide technical expertise and project leadership in the modeling andanalysis of SSA, OSC and DSC systems and their broader system-of-systemsarchitectures with a focus on space protection and defenseProvide independent assessments and lead studies with integrated analyst teamsthat include government/FFRDC/SETA/contractor membersConduct trade studies and comparative performance assessments of system andarchitecture alternatives to inform customer investmentdecisions/recommendationsSupport the development and maturation of analysis software toolsMentor junior staff and customer personnelOccasional travel is requiredQualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in engineering, science or related technicaldisciplinewith at least ten years of engineering experienceSignificant experience in orbit mechanics/astrodynamicsExtensive experience in modeling, simulation, and analysisExpertise in one or more of the following technical disciplines required:space mission analysis and design, orbital propagation and perturbations,orbit estimation, orbital maneuvers, launch vehicle and satelliteoperations, collision risk and debris analyses, missile defenseanalyses, and modeling and simulationBroad understanding of the national security space enterprise and spacemission systems engineeringProven ability to effectively interact with colleagues, contractors, andsenior-level government customersExtensive experience presenting technical briefings as well as writingtechnical documentationExperience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)Demonstrated technical team leadership and ability to work independentlyCurrent SSBI with DoD Top Secret andSCI security clearancePreferredExperience with satellite design and/or space system research and developmentExperience with DoD space system acquisitionsExperience generatinggraphical visualizations of technical analysis resultsExperience with modeling the performance of electro-optical or radiofrequencysensors for SSA or remote sensingProficiency with one or more of the following programming languages/tools:C++, Python, Matlab, SIMULINK, C, Fortran, JavaExperience with current and planned SSA, OSC and DSC systems andarchitectures
