Are you ready to launch your career?ResponsibilitiesThe Air Force is transforming its space enterprise with warfighting-focusedinitiatives to maintain U.S. space superiority in the 21st century. As anastrodynamics engineering specialist, you'll be a key member of teams thatare developing innovative new missions and capabilities to ensure the U.S. candefend, fight, and win in the space domain. The qualified candidate willprovide mission design and astrodynamics analytical support to governmentcustomers as they transform current missions and invent new capabilities.Emphasis will be in the areas of space situational awareness (SSA),offensive space control (OSC), defensive space control (DSC), andenhancing the resilience of other mission areas in the Air Force Space Command(AFSPC) enterprise architecture. Customers include HQ AFSPC, the SpaceSecurity and Defense Program (SSDP), Space and Missile Systems Center(SMC), anKey FunctionsConduct a range of modeling, simulation, and analysis in areas such asspace mission design, orbital maneuvers, orbit estimation, spacedebris, and space situational awarenessProvide technical support to AFSPC Space Warfighting Construct and SpaceEnterprise Vision activities, including the Core Architecture Team, andthe Space Security and Defense ProgramInteract directly with Aerospace program office personnel and governmentcustomers in the Colorado Springs area and collaborate closely with Aerospacepersonnel in other locationsProvide technical expertise and project leadership in the modeling andanalysis of SSA, OSC and DSC systems and their broader system-of-systemsarchitectures with a focus on space protection and defenseProvide independent assessments and lead studies with integrated analyst teamsthat include government/FFRDC/SETA/contractor membersConduct trade studies and comparative performance assessments of system andarchitecture alternatives to inform customer investmentdecisions/recommendationsSupport the development and maturation of analysis software toolsMentor junior staff and customer personnelOccasional travel is requiredQualificationsRequiredMaster's degree in engineering, science or related technical disciplinewith at least six years of engineering experience or a PhD in engineering,science or related technical discipline with at least four years ofengineering experienceSignificant experience in orbit mechanics/astrodynamicsExtensive experience in modeling, simulation, and analysisExpertise in one or more of the following technical disciplines required:space mission analysis and design, orbital propagation and perturbations,orbit estimation, orbital maneuvers, launch vehicle and satelliteoperations, collision risk and debris analyses, missile defenseanalyses, and modeling and simulationBroad understanding of the national security space enterprise and spacemission systems engineeringProven ability to effectively interact with colleagues, contractors, andsenior-level government customersExtensive experience presenting technical briefings as well as writingtechnical documentationExperience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)Demonstrated technical team leadership and ability to work independentlyCurrent SSBI with DoD Top Secret and SCI security clearancePreferredExperience with satellite design and/or space system resea
