Join our team and thrive in a career that matters to the worldand you personally.ResponsibilitiesThe Trajectory Design and Optimization Department is hiring a Contested SpaceTrajectory Analyst to provide trajectory analysis andoptimization support forcontested space applications. This role will support conceptualdesign/technology assessments, pre-launch analysis for on-contractprograms, launch and mission ops, and end-of-life phases. Missionapplications include spacecraft, launch, missile, and reentryvehicles, for Earth-centric and interplanetary missions. Selected candidateswill be expected to lead complicated analyses and larger analysis teams.Candidates must perform significant customer interfacing for both internal andexternal customers. Applicants must possess good communication skills and theability to perform/learn the key functions listed below.Key FunctionsDevelop and apply advanced techniques for solving flight mechanics andastrodynamics problemsPerform trajectory simulation and performance optimization of launchvehicles, upper stages, spacecraft, and reentry vehiclesImplement optimization theory including calculus of variations approachesand/or non-linear programming techniquesAnalyze and optimize chemical propulsion, low thrust propulsion, andhybrid propulsion orbit transfersSupport launch vehicle ops and spacecraft orbit transfer campaignsImplement scripting techniques to perform parametric studiesUtilize numerical methods(numerical integration, root-solving problems,coordinate transformations)QualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in a STEM field, aerospace, mechanical, electricalor equivalentMinimum of (8) years of engineering or applicable professional oreducational experience is requiredExperience with flight mechanics, trajectory modeling and simulation,orbit mechanics, optimal controlExperience modeling launch vehicle and missile trajectories, particularly tonon-traditional orbit regimes and modeling the target vehicle's dynamicsExperience using parameter optimization and the ability to model multiplevehicles in a single analysis frameworkExperience using optimal control software packages like GPOPS-II and SOSProficiency in one or more of the following programming languages andenvironments is desired: C, C++, Fortran, Python, Matlab, UnixThis position requires a current and active TS/SSBI (SCI) securityclearance witha Counterintelligence Polygraph , which is issued by the USgovernment.
