Are you passionate about the environment? We are growing and hiring environmental professionals in our Rocky Mountain division! We are looking for an accomplished, Environmental Department Manager for our Colorado Springs, CO office. Our Colorado Springs office is uniquely located and works on exciting projects including environmental site assessment, remediation, redevelopment, and site renovation work for City and County agencies, school districts, commercial real property developers and managers, law firms, financial institutions, architect/engineer and construction (A/E/C) clients. This position is for a career-level environmental management professional who will be responsible for managing a department of 3 to 5 personnel, planning, scheduling, conducting, or coordinating site testing, developing analytical testing plans, and making recommendations for design on projects varying in size and complexity. In this position the candidate must have strong management skills as well as be able to identify, evaluate and recommend risk and remediation strategies/designs to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Management experience is a must as the candidate will lead the department by utilizing a formal growth plan, promoting training, and assigning and coordinating staff workload.

Essential Role and Responsibilities:

  • Conducting client development activities and work with our team to develop a book of business in traditional environmental services for Colorado Springs, CO and surrounding areas.

  • Provide excellent customer service.

  • Work proactively within our National Client Account Program for successful, timely, project delivery in Colorado Springs and our Rocky Mountain Region.

  • Provide environmental support to multiple services lines including industrial hygiene, geotechnical services, construction and building materials, and facilities.

  • Work as a team member and participate with business development staff, senior environmental staff, and management on large, complex projects and pursuits.

  • Possess strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.

  • Possess skills to become an Approved Project Reviewer (APR) in one of more environmental/technical areas.

  • Understand and implement technical requirements to complete client projects by directing and supervising field staff to sample, test and collect data and/or document site activities.

  • Ability to make recommendations for conceptual designs based on technical data.

  • Ability to develop written proposals to clients for both small and large projects.

  • Experienced in evaluating, and synthesizing complex laboratory and field data, and assembly in written reports.

  • Serve as an inter-disciplinary team member in meetings and communications with client pertaining to specific projects/tasks.

  • Perform site visits, field observations and field data collection with ability to collect detailed site observations and notes.

  • Mentor, supervise, and oversee staff environmental scientists and technicians.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects for incident and injury free operations.

  • Lead and participate in Pre-Task planning.

  • Report any safety issues or concerns to management.

  • Understand and follow project quality and corporate quality standards for all projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or related science field and a minimum of 6 years’ related experience;

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.

  • Ability to travel out of town between 10% and 20% of the normal work week.

  • Flexible work schedule, to ensure project timelines are completed.

  • Possess strong writing skills.

  • Attention to detail, note taking skills.

  • Ability to work on a team and build networks across the Rocky Mountain division.

  • Intermediate to advanced skills using the Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred:

  • Industrial Hygiene or Asbestos related experience strongly preferred.

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Salary Range: $79,100-$122,600
