This position provides Systems Engineering and Technical Advice support to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Modeling and Simulation (MS) Directorate of Operations. The Directorate of MS Operations manages software applications that support tasks of Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) concept evaluation, developmental engineering, testing and verification, assessment, training, and operational support. The position provides support to the government Contracting Officer’s Technical Representatives (COTRs) who manage the software development life cycle for the directorate’s software applications and to the Warfighter Support section. Participate in system and program requirements and design reviews, Integrated Product Teams, and other engineering level meetings. Participate in various warfighter meetings involving MS Operations’ software applications. Support requirements verification and validation, method papers, test case design, and analysis for requirements closure.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • BS in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Physics

  • 5-10+ years experience with the Department of Defense

  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office products to communicate technical information

  • Confident in personal interaction; willingness to work as a member of team

  • Willingness to learn new skills

  • Ability to think creatively and be comfortable with analytical and out-of-the-box thinking

  • Ability to work with a geographically separated and technically diverse team of engineers with differing perspectives and roles and responsibilities

  • Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to technical and non-technical staff

  • Energetic, motivated, self-starter

Desired Knowledge, Skills Abilities:

  • Understanding of the basic systems engineering principles

  • Knowledge of the Missile Defense Agency

  • Experience with Microsoft Access

  • Basic knowledge of cybersecurity

  • Understanding of project management disciplines (i.e. scheduling, requirements, risk, and budgeting)

  • Active Secret Clearance
