Philips Mechanical Development Engineer in Colorado Springs, Colorado

In this role, you have the opportunity to:

You will be a contributing member of a technical team improving and maintaining our released surgical products . Your tasks will include working with design documentation updates; along with test protocol development, execution, and data analysis of all design aspects for safety, efficacy, and reliability. You will perform your duties as an integral member of a multi-functional team working to improve aspects of currently released product in a highly collaborative environment.

You are responsible for

  • Having a solid technical understanding of mechanical systems and the basic toolset for mechanical design

  • Changes to existing product given specific input requirements and constraints.

  • Generating design documentation such as CAD models, drawings, BOM, test protocols, test reports, Engineering Change Orders, assembly instructions.

  • Producing prototypes for evaluation, development, and test, which may include assembly and limited machining.

  • Working with vendors on component design and fabrication.

  • Developing and executing engineering studies, analyzing data, providing recommendations and having strong documentation skills.

  • Ability to read and understand drawings, schematics, and data

  • CAD proficiency in creating both solid models and finished drawings – SolidWorks preferred

  • Ability to develop test protocols, conduct hands-on testing, analyze the data, and write test reports

  • Executing system level verification and validation testing

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physics or equivalent skills and experience – BS in Mechanical Engineering preferred

  • Demonstrated communications skills to enable effective contribution as a member of a multi-functional team is essential

  • A minimum five (5) of years of experience in product development

  • Experience working in a regulated environment (e.g. FDA) preferred

  • Experience with medical devices is a plus
