Tetra Tech's Colorado Springs, CO office is looking for a Junior Military Master Planner for our projects for the Department of Defense.
The primary duties of the Jr Military Planner are to function as part of a team for planning medium- to large-size DoD and other Federal planning and asset management projects, as well as to plan, prepare, and develop documents in compliance with Federal and DoD policies. Projects would include Vision Plans, Area Development Plans and Installation Development Plans that require knowledge and application of Form-Based Codes, New Urbanism, LEED, Smart City planning, and other sustainable/resilience planning strategies.
Candidates considering applying for this position should consider the following:
Must possess a Bachelor's Degree. Degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Journalism, Geography or a related field.
Must have 2-4 years of professional planning experience (internship experience is applicable); Candidates possessing a Master's degree in planning or a related field, professional training certifications may substitute this for professional planning experience .
Knowledge of the philosophies, principals, practices & techniques of federal, urban, regional and/or facilities planning.
Knowledge of principles, methodology, practices of research, data collection, and interviews.
Knowledge of planning disciplines such as urban design, environmental planning, military planning, economic development, or land use.
Solid understanding of GIS use, principles, data standards and projections is expected.
Group facilitation skills for use with community workshops and team charrette experience.
Ability to define internal project schedules, graphic components, mapping/planning graphic elements, and writing assignments based on a Scope of Work
Design or assist in the design of page layouts, various charts/figures, brochures, posters, slide shows, and provide deliverables in a variety of media formats. Graphic design skills are preferred.
Advanced English language skills, both written and verbal, to include technical writing/editing experience and a demonstrated ability to write, edit, and deliver planning content.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical material, financial reports, and legal documents.
Candidates need to be effective verbal and nonverbal communicators.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.) is required.
Experience with ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, preferred.
AICP and / or GISP Certification preferred, but not required.
All candidates are required to have the ability to pass a security / background check and security clearance investigation.
This position will require a U.S. Passport and the ability to travel overseas as needed.
