Are you ready to launch your career?ResponsibilitiesThe Ground Based SSA (Space Situation Awareness) Systems Engineer willprovide engineering support to the AF Space Superiority Systems Directorate(SY) in support of Ground Base Space Surveillance sensors (GBSS).Duties include systems engineering for all GBSS radars and/or telescopes,developing long term architecture and ensuring that the integration of allprograms and projects are consistent with the plans. Of particular focus arethe following sensors, but not limited to: Eglin Radar, C Band RadarAustralia, and C Band Radar Ascension for radar systems, SST (SpaceSurveillance Telescope, and GEODSS (Ground-Based Electro-Optical DeepSpace Surveillance) for telescope systems. The duties include evolving thestrategic planning of Space Situation Awareness (SSA) architecture withthe government customers in Colorado Springs and in El Segundo.This position can be filled as a Level 2: Project Engineer or as a Level3: Sr. Project Engineer.The selected candidate will demonstrate clear written and oral communicationskills. They will have the ability to interact effectively with theEngineering & Technology Group (ETG), Air Force, SETAs, otherFFRDCs, and contractor personnel.Key FunctionsEnsure interfaces between inter- and intra-SY programs are clearly defined andconsistent with each side's architecture modeling, simulation, andanalysis; developing future SSA concepts, strategies, and architecturesPerform risk assessments and identify technology development as necessaryBriefings and strategic plans are to be developed as required, as well asmentoring customerThis position requires travel with current expectations up 10%QualificationsRequired Qualifications for Level 2: Project Engineer: Ground Based SensingB.S. in Engineering or related technical discipline8 or more years of experience that includes one or more of the following:Systems architecture, systems engineering, network and/OR C2 groundsystem disciplinesExperience working with minimum supervision and interacting effectively withcoworkers from other organizations, groups or companiesCurrent Secret clearanceAbility to travel as needed as neededRequired Qualifications for Level 3: Project Engineer: Ground Based SensingB.S. in Engineering or related technical discipline12 or more years of directly related experience that includes one or more ofthe following: Systems architecture, systems engineering, networkand/OR C2 ground system disciplinesExperience working with minimum supervision and interacting effectively withcoworkers from other organizations, groups or companiesCurrent Secret clearanceAbility to travel as needed as neededPreferred QualificationsExperience with programs/projects in the Space Superiority mission areaExperience in SSA concepts, strategies and architecturesExperience with Radar based and/or Optical based remote sensingCurrent (background investigation less than five years old) TS and SCIclearance is desired.
