Job Description

Our Specialty Seating Systems is recognized as a leading designer, developer, and manufacturer of a broad spectrum of aerospace specialty seating products. Our state-of-the-art, 16g dynamically certified cockpit and cabin crew seats, and 30g crashworthy helicopter seats are showcased on commercial, regional, business, and military aircraft for most major OEMs. Our portfolio includes proprietary products designed specifically for Boeing, Airbus, Cessna, and Bombardier, as well as key military OEMs to include Lockheed Martin and Boeing Military. Position Purpose/Objective:

The Purchasing Analyst demonstrates a solid understanding of the UTC aerospace business and supply chain and plays a key role in interfacing with the UTC internal and external customers to lead, coordinate, and implement procurement activities. This individual plays a key role in the organization as the focal point responsible for all procurement aspects associated with assigned suppliers. Specific responsibilities include P.O. purchasing, spot buys, and requisition processing. Additionally responsible for supplier performance monitoring and assessment, including Six-Pack reviews and Supplier Gold, leveraging the supply chain playbooks and working with the delivery assurance team to ensure the timely delivery of parts. Assists the supplier corrective action and transition processes. The individual will be an active participant in their skill development, strive to be an expert in their part family and perform in a continuous improvement environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers.

  • Purchases items, materials, or services of a technical and specialized nature.

  • Analyzes inventory--identifying areas of opportunity to optimize all levels of material within the facility .

  • Schedules supply chain deliveries to support production, which optimizes inventory.

  • Administers pull schedules, which optimizes supply chain inventory, while supporting customer requirements.

  • Manages purchase order release process.

  • Identifies key stakeholders, develops success criteria, defines measurable metrics, creates resource plans, identifies risks and constraints, and identifies the critical path of scope, time and budget.

  • Establishes and maintains order policies and lead times for assigned products.

  • Supports/maintains established inventory policies and procedures including cycle counting, point-of use, FIFO inventory, returnable containers procedures and engineering change affectivity control.

  • Maintains and effective filing system, which supports immediate job functions, ISO requirements and related industry requirements.

  • Develops and optimizes work-in-process levels, which maximizes quality and throughput to best meet customer requirements.

  • Adheres to all UTAS rules and codes of conduct.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Work Environment / Other Position Requirements:

  • Office environment or office environment on production floor.

  • Occasionally in production area requiring safety glasses.

  • Extended periods of sitting at a workstation and utilizing a computer keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Travel:

  • 10 percent of time traveling.

Qualification:

  • 2+ years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management, including inventory management, manufacturing resources planning (MRP), demand planning, and capacity management, to get the right materials to the right place, at the right time.

  • Understanding of ACE operating system and process improvement tools (e.g. standard work, value stream management, passport process, quality clinic process charts, relentless root cause analysis, 5S).

  • Understanding of manufacturing methods, special processes, blueprints and quality requirements. Apply insights to supply chain functions, including but not limited to strategic sourcing, new product introduction, continuous improvement, quality management and issue resolution, etc.

  • Ability to collect, aggregate, match, and consolidate data while ensuring quality, consistency and accuracy. Package information into an easily digestible and understandable presentation format.

  • Ability to apply financial and accounting concepts (e.g. cost and pricing analysis, value engineering, net present value, should-cost, purchase price variation, standard setting, and basic financial models) to improve budget management, increase potential profits, and assess the financial viability of projects and other activities.

  • Meet or exceed stakeholder time, cost, and functionality needs and expectations from a project.

  • Determines alternative solutions to problems, evaluates courses of actions, and reaches sound business decisions.

  • Masters degree in Supply Chain or a relevant field
