deciBel Research has an immediate opening for an experienced MechanicalEngineer in Colorado Springs, CO.Position Description:deciBel Research is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join ourteam to support emerging technologies in the electro-optical realm of SpaceDomain Awareness (SDA). This highly exciting position will provide directexperience with cutting edge optical hardware and software subsystems alongwith crucial integration. It will also involve close interaction with SpaceForce customers and System Architects in order to upgrade and maintain ourNation's preeminent ground based optical sensors. The ideal candidate willcombine their past domain knowledge and highly technical skillset to identifyareas of changes or improvement which lead to an optimization of the SDAsystems' mission.Additional Responsibilities:Lead mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting of designs.Lead development of relevant design control documentation.Lead development and implementation of test protocols for both informal andformal design testing.Lead development of written assembly and test procedures for new designs.Assist and mentor junior engineers in their work.Interact with outside vendors to source parts.Education Requirements: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering ora related field.Experience Requirements:This position requires 7+ years of experience in the design and developmentof mechanical, electro-mechanical and opto-mechanical systems.Strong engineering fundamentals and analytical background with the ability toperform analyses and offer solutions related to electro-mechanical andopto-mechanical systems. Types of analysis include: Heat transfer, Fluidmechanics, Static and dynamic structures, and Power.Demonstrated ability in developing, integrating and validatingelectro-mechanical and opto-mechanical designs.Solid understanding of manufacturing technologies including additive,machining, welding, sheet metal and cable assemblies.Experience in the design of additive manufactured parts, machined parts,weldments, sheet metal parts, and cable assemblies.Demonstrated CAD experience is required.SolidWorks/PDM preferred and Creo/Windchill required.Demonstrated experience with FEM and CFD analysis required.ANSYS, MSC Nastran, FloTHERM preferred .Demonstrated experience with numerical analysis tools preferred.Matlab preferred.Demonstrated understanding of GDandT tolerance practices required.Demonstrated understanding of standard ASME Y14.5M-1994 required.Proficiency in MS Office suite.A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected including the ability tomulti-task in an environment with changing priorities.Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines,accuracy and reliability of project data.Applicant selected must have an active security clearance.
