Job Description:

The Systems NDPP (Non-Traditional Data Pre-Processor) Engineer will provide technical oversight and performance management ensuring system architecture and implementation meet Harris Systems Engineering principles and guidelines. The System Engineer will provide input to manage system architecture, technical implementation, and system engineering support the Command and Control (C2) IPT. Additionally, the Systems Engineer will support in all technical aspects including technical oversight, system testing/verification, and quality assurance. Also, they will be responsible to support infrastructure planning, design, implementation, and deployment to operational sites as well as test labs at Peterson Air Force Base.


  • Support fast-moving Agile projects.

  • System design and system performance analysis to identify opportunities, risks, strengths and gaps

  • Upon understanding system functionality and needs, SE will translate that into new requirements, gaps, CONOPS implications from those new requirements

  • Perform risk analysis, including identifying and assessing project risks. Develop and execute risk mitigation plans and management of risks on projects. Provide risk avoidance and risk mitigation strategies to project managers.

  • Support the project management team by performing technical planning including cost, risk and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems following a defined system design lifecycle process (concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal)

  • Contribute to the development of new principles and concepts to enhance mission operations

  • Support the development of technological concepts which improve system performance and mission capabilities

  • Interact with engineering teams and customer to identify problems, perform failure analysis to root cause, and develop solutions to correct deficiencies

  • Develop, conduct and document military utility assessments of non-traditional data sensors and sources

  • Support critical operations during standard and non-standard working hours

  • Conduct system requirements reviews and create and/or update requirement specifications and technical documentation. Review system engineering documentation to ensure specifications meet system needs and are accurate, comprehensive, and complete.

  • Develop trade studies to guide selection of components to ensure requirement satisfaction. Develop/assess course of action alternatives in project development/product delivery

  • Develop and conduct test plans/procedures for software/hardware integration tests, be responsible for integration/execution, detailed data analysis, and preparation of software test reports

  • Participate in engineering peer reviews as a document originator or reviewer to ensure engineering rigor is appropriate for each project’s current lifecycle phase


  • 6+ years’ relevant work experience with a Bachelors’ degree or

  • 4+ years’ relevant work experience with a Masters’ degree

  • Active Top-Secret security clearance

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active Top-Secret/SCI security clearance

  • Have a good understanding of SSN obs processing and satellite catalog maintenance

  • Experience with the integration of a new sensor into SSN operations

  • Experience with C2 center/service system or C2 application system and SSA operations

  • Must be able to become familiar with the subject system and existing requirements/interfaces within 1-2 months via informational interviews and supporting documentation.

  • Experience with requirements analysis and systems design within projects

  • Experience writing specifications, design, ConOps, and Interface Control Documents

  • Previous experience supporting DoD/government customers a plus

  • Ability to write subsystem specification and requirements

  • Hardware/software requirement verification/system validation experience

  • Experience leading small and medium project implementations.

  • Experience working directly with customers onsite at their facility.

  • Flexibility to travel for customer purposes
