Samtec, Inc.Samtec is seeking a Tooling Design Engineer for our Colorado Springs, COfacility. The schedule is M-F 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.1. This is a contract opportunity.2. Pay is $29.00 - $ 33.00 per hour and is commensurate with experience.3. Standard benefit offerings available during contract/temporary status arehealth, dental, vision, term life, short term disability, ADandD andEAP, if full time status is offered standard benefits are medical(HSA/PPO) dental, vision, group life, ADandD, short and longterm disability, EAP, 401K plus other voluntary options, as well as paid time oThe Tooling Design Engineer will work both independently and collaborativelyto design and develop Automation, Manual Tooling, and Fixtures. Oncedesigned, this individual is responsible for placing orders, assembly,qualification, and release to the production floor.Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:1. Using CAD software (Solidworks), design all mechanical elements ofeither manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic tooling and equipment usedto produce low to high-volume connector assemblies.2. Interface with Product Design engineers to understand key features andagree on assembly sequences.3. Interface with manufacturing personnel to understand current and futuremanufacturing capability.4. Actively participate in product and tooling design review meetings.5. Prioritize and respond to tooling-related quality problems.6. Ensure that Product Quality and Process Reliability are designed into eachproject from the start.7. Ensure that all tooling changes/modifications are properly requested,executed, implemented and documented.8. Assemble tools after fabrication is complete9. Debug tooling.10. Coordinates qualification with manufacturing personnel.11. Provides cost estimates for tooling and assembly. Reviews and updateestimates throughout project lifecycles.12. Ensures the project delivered is compliant with all relevant OSHA andlocal standards in respect to the design and engineering work practices.13. Conduct or participate in regular project/schedule meetings.14. Record, address and resolves issues that impact project timing and/orscope.15. Develop contingency plans or recovery plans as required. Associates may be asked to perform additionaltasks depending on strengths and capabilities Required Experience:1. Experience designing tooling and automated equipment2. Proficient in SolidWorks application including modelling, simulation andPDM.3. Ability to comprehend and interpret part/tooling drawings, GDandT andtechnical instructions.4. Strong knowledge of tooling fabrication processes including materialselection and tolerance.5. Meticulous, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.6. Strong English verbal and written communications skills.7. Ability to work in a demanding environment providing accurate and timelyoutput to a high standard.Preferred Education:1.
