Position Summary:Ulteig is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Civil Engineer inour Denver, CO office working in the Substation group. The Engineer acts asa discipline lead engineer responsible for planning, scheduling,conducting and/or coordinating detailed phases of assigned project work.They will work with government stakeholders, surveyors and designers duringthe planning, design, and construction of electric utility substationprojects. The Engineer must be able to perform complex assignments underminimal supervision and visually portray complex design features. The Engineermust be able to interpret topographical survey data along with proposed siteplans to produce the civil/grading design, layout the fence, designaccess driveways, calculate ponding requirements, createstormwater/SWPPP reports, and provide office support during construction.The ability to handle multiple projects at once and prioritize work tasks tomeet scheduled deadlines is a must. The Engineer must be able to create civildesigns, reports, specifications, and compile engineering data fromdrawings or field notes. Candidates should be self-motivated with excellentwritten and verbal communication skills. They must also be able to work in ateam environment and be able to work on multiple projects at once. We arelooking for candidates that are committed to client satisfaction, and adherestrictly to client-driven standards, schedules, and budgets.Responsibilities:Applies current, standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteriato complete engineering tasks.Develops plans, specifications, and observation reports to see that theseitems are complete, accurate and in accordance with sound engineeringpractice.Reviews plans and specifications for constructability, safety, and riskmanagement.Practices efficiency engineering as it pertains to design selection.Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality.Works closely with engineering technicians and experienced engineers.Most of the work will be in the office, but approximately 10% of the timewill be in the field.Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.Is technically involved with the resolution of design problems that mayinclude performing field investigation or observations.Checks design computations done by others.Coordinates specific design aspects of a project.Performs detailed engineering design and evaluations within specialty.May devise new approaches and solutions to problems encountered.Prepares reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assignedprojects.May participate in marketing, sales and business development activitieswithin assigned market.Demonstrates a wide degree of creativity and latitude.Effectively communicates and interacts with clients to ensure we are meetingtheir needs.Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program orequivalent required.Civil Professional Engineer (PE) registration, or ability to obtainwithin 6 months of hire, required.NCEES Council Record preferred.Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience is required.Knowledge of electrical utility substation layout and design preferred.Proficient at large scale grading design, additions to existing civildesigns, and earthwork calculations required.Stormwater management and permitting experience desired.Experience developing Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Planspreferred.Experience developing Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) andperforming SWPPP inspections preferred.Knowledge and experience in steel structure and foundation designs preferred.Knowledge of AISC, ACI, ASCE & NESC preferred.Demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D isrequired.
