CDM Smith Construction Quality Manager in Denver, Colorado
Location: Denver (preferred) other locations considered: Orlando, Los Angeles, Houston, Boston
In this role, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by: Having responsibility for establishing programs and processes for the company that ensure company and client requirements are met. The job objective is to ensure the CDM Smith Construction Unit is consistently delivering quality controls and enhancements to proactively address problems and improve quality of the work (s), construction efficiency, customer satisfaction, and bottom-line cost results on a large project or multiple projects .
The Construction Quality Manager will ensure:
Develop and commission quality control systems; apply and analyze inspection and testing procedures; utilize metrics and statistics to diagnose and correct improper quality control practices; identify human factors and motivation in quality applications; develop cost of quality concepts for rate of return investments; administer management information systems; and audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
Provide guidance to Quality Team and Project Team so that all parties understand and comply with the project quality requirements in the Design-Build Agreement.
Collaborate with Management Team during project bid and estimating activities to ensure quality activities, hold points, and resources are sufficient to complete the work.
Lead staff development by providing training, support, guidance, and assistance in goal setting.
Develop and commission, proper identification and resolution management system (s) for implementation and measurement of overall Quality Management Plan using metrics and statistical means and methods.
Review and approve subcontractor Quality Control Plans. Ensure subcontractor or vendor Quality Inspectors are adequately qualified for their required inspections. Conduct audits of relevant subcontractor and off site inspections for compliance with the Quality Management Plan.
Performs other duties as required.
Construction Quality Manager
CDM Smith Employment Type:
EDUCATION: BS in Engineering, Construction Management or related degree.
Experience: 15+ years of related experience with construction and/or engineering consulting services firm.
Must be able to travel.
The successful candidate will have progressive construction experience in quality control programming. American Society of Quality (ASQ ) and/or relevant construction material testing certifications are recommended. Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C) by Army Corp of Engineers (ACE) or Naval Academy Foreign Affairs Conference (NAFAC) certification or ability to be received after 90 days of engagement.
VDC (Virtual Design & Construction), process start-up and experience in the industrial/Oil & gas industries a plus.
Additional preferred qualifications include:
Knowledge of industry practices, processes, design, health and safety, and quality management; Familiarity with quality cost concepts and techniques; Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures is essential; Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to maintain confidentiality; Strong organizational, leadership, analytical, facilitation, negotiation, and planning skills essential; General personal computer skills and specialized software skills including, Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Outlook or similar software with capability of administering to management information systems.
