AWS data centers serve as thefoundation upon which our software and services operates to meet the growingdemands of our customers. Deploying and operating data centers is synonymouswith ensuring capacity, availability, flexibility, and capitalconservation. This mission critical role will work with business, designengineering, facility management, and other cross-functional teams toassess and select colocation and partner facilities that meet our businessrequirements. The candidate will need an in-depth understanding of design,engineering, and operations of Alternating Current (AC) and DirectCurrent (DC) power distribution, backup power generation, fueldelivery, mechanical cooling, controls and fire suppression system'sinfrastructures common to mission critical data centers, telecommunicationsandAs a Data Center Project Engineer at AWS, you will directly support siteselection review and acceptance, fit-for-use and fit-for-service assessmentsof infrastructure and designs, commissioning and Integrated System Testing(IST) of site infrastructure, and final turnover to Data CenterOperations. You will be responsible to investigate, identify, document,and resolve any operational/design deficiencies which could impact asite's capability or availability. You will work as part of a globalcolocation expansion team to ensure high standards are created and achieved.Successful candidates will be strong leaders who can prioritize well,communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery. Amazon's workenvironment is unique in every aspect and offers an exceptional opportunityfor the right candidate.ResponsibilitiesThe Data Center Project Engineer will be responsible for the following:Conduct site assessments against AWS standards for collocation data centers,legacy facilities, and general capital endeavors.Perform risk analysis and availability calculations for vendor owned andoperated data center and critical facilities infrastructure.Continually refine and adapt AWS' design and specification requirements tomeet our business needs.Document root-cause failure analysis associated with infrastructure andequipment failures.Work with local local teams and agencies having jurisdiction to ensurecompliance with federal, state and municipal requirements and building codes.Collaborate with internal and external engineering, operations andcommissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation,and performance of site electrical/mechanical/fire suppression systemsSupport of Operations including utilization, efficiency, and fail-overanalysis on critical systems.Interface with internal data center design teams, controls teams, R.and.Dteams, hardware teams, environmental health and safety teams to promotestandards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered.Having fun and offering creative, out of the box solutionsTravel to vendor sites as required - International .and.
