Tetra Tech is looking for a Land Use Planner who is well-versed in strategic and current planning issues in Colorado, including those faced by municipal, commercial and industrial clients.
Candidate must possess team-focused work ethic, ability to prioritize multiple tasks; demonstrate an attention to detail while keeping the strategic vision in the forefront; strong desire for continuous improvement and client satisfaction.
Successful Candidate must possess the desire and ability to form strong working relationships with various Federal, State, County and local governing agencies
Prepare and process land use applications for various clients including those in the municipal, commercial and industrial sectors
Research, analyze, interpret and communicate findings regarding land use Codes, policies and regulations; review pending Code or legislative actions and communicate applicability to clients and to Tetra Tech
Identify and present strategic options available to clients for land use permitting
Prepare presentations regarding the land use application for public presentations to boards and commissions, prepare for land use hearings with clients
Interface with the public including property owners that may be opposed to proposed development
Develop schedules/timelines, estimate budgets, and work with an interdisciplinary team of planners, engineers and CAD staff to ensure projects are completed on-schedule and on-budget
Research domestic and international Codes, laws, regulations and procedures
Produce suggested Code/regulation language changes or original content
Support the development and delivery of training programs; ability to communicate a clear message
Prepare informational presentations to convey new concepts to a diverse audience
Desire to market services and participate in business development activities
Understanding of urban design principles
Perform other related duties as assigned
4-8 years’ experience required -- working as a land use planning consultant, and/or in a similar role working at a government agency or in the private sector
Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Community and Regional Planning, Land Use Planning or Urban Planning; Master’s degree preferred; other similar degree may be considered (Urban Design, Architecture, etc.)
Use of Microsoft Office products
Ability to multi-task, work independently and on teams, ask questions and receive feedback
Possess strong and positive communication skills (written, verbal and communication), strong work ethic, desire to grow professionally
AICP Certification preferable, the ability to obtain certification within 1 year of hire is required
GIS experience preferred
Project Management certifications or trainings a plus
InDesign or other graphics program skills a plus
Ability to travel internationally
