Job Description

Provide electrical engineering design packaging and drawing expertise within the Ground Command, Control and Communications (GC3) Organization. Develop and complete drawings to be released in the configuration managing system. Drawings include design models, parts lists, documents and schematics. Develop drawings using model based views, parametric dimensions and feature definition using best practices including geometric tolerancing and dimensioning. Utilize available automations and utilities to perform self-verifications of models, drawings and build of materials. Work within the applicable engineering release system to create or complete the change documents as needed. Create supporting administrative documentation and products associated with a given design, including the Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM), Change summary documentation, accurate change cut-in, Schedule/Milestone priorities, as applicable. Technical/Design technical support positions are located at the Denver (Centennial), Colorado location.

Safety to Self and Others: Must be able to perform all assigned tasks in a safe manner. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to repetitive motion injuries due to keyboarding or to cuts and bruises due to typical office accidents.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close –vision and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises.

Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally and in writing and use interpersonal skills. The employee is regularly required to prioritize, multitask, analyze, interpret, coordinate, compile, evaluate, synthesize, compute, problem solve, concentrate, and think critically. The employee is occasionally required to copy, instruct, and negotiate.

Judgment and Decision-Making: Work is regularly assigned by self, supervisor, and departmental staff. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to exercise prudent judgment, decision making, and analytical skills to determine manner and operational steps necessary to properly handle inquiries and perform daily tasks within professional standards. Decision making is guided by L3 policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in related field is required (Four years of direct related work experience may be substituted to satisfy the degree requirement)

  • 2-3 years of applicable CAD design experience

  • Demonstrated proficiency in implementing electrical systems, packaging and designs

  • Proficiency in Geometric and Tolerancing applications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).

  • Demonstrable communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Ability to interface with numerous Design Engineers in a teaming environment

  • Must be able to obtain, and maintain security clearance.

External Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of electro mechanical interfaces

  • Ability to organize, schedule and coordinate drawing release process (Teamcenter experience a plus)

  • Effective communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks

  • Ability to identify, processes and resolve design issues

  • Self motivated with initiative and teamwork attributes with minimal supervision.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to perform CAD file sharing and conversion and file management.
