Tetra Tech, Inc., is currently seeking a candidate for a high visibility role as a
Regional Energy Transmission Practice Leader
to assist in developing and executing a strategic growth business plan for the southwestern US. The Practice Leader will support our existing and growing energy practice which includes work in fossil fuel and renewable energy generation, transmission line and substation power delivery, natural gas pipelines (FERC and non-FERC regulated), regulator and compressor stations, and other energy related facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Regional Energy Transmission Practice Leader will be responsible for and engaged in business development activities such as new client development, conference presentation and attendance, proposal scope and cost estimating, marketing collateral updates and creation, and management of existing client relationships
The Regional Energy Transmission Practice Lead will lead the technical delivery of project deliverables and assist regulatory and permitting activities associated with local, state, and federal permits, lead or support the development of environmental studies and resource analyses, be involved with consultation with clients and agencies, siting and routing activities, and public outreach as required for projects
This Regional Lead will have demonstrated writing abilities, organizational skills, competency with basic business computer applications (i.e., Microsoft Office), possess the ability to act independently with project and task management roles, have a strong attention to detail, and a proven commitment to quality management, continuous improvement and client satisfaction
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION:
Possess a B.S. or M.S. in a related field (i.e., planning, environmental studies, or a closely related discipline)
Exhibit solid, practical skills in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Project)
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, coordinate effectively with others, and work independently and within a team are important characteristics for this position
Research and interpret federal, state and local regulations on a project-specific basis to assess project permitting feasibility and requirements, and interface with regulatory agencies
Coordinate and lead the preparation of proposals, environmental reports and permit applications through collection, management and analysis of environmental data and information
Technical inquisitiveness, a positive attitude, and an ability to work well in teams are essential
10years of applied environmental consulting experience (siting, permitting, project management and business development) with a market focus on electric transmission
Excellent technical writing and interpersonal communication skills, public speaking/expert testimony and have demonstrated project management experience
Practical experience with various state and federal regulatory bodies (Colorado, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona) such as PSC, PUC, BLM, COE, USFS, USFWS, FERC, and other state and local environmental permitting programs
Candidates should have demonstrated experience and knowledge of common energy utility industry best practices, familiarity with energy facilities and consulting support of energy clients, familiarity and experience in completing analyses under the National Environmental Policy Act, work with or testifying for Public Service/Utility Commissions, and a solid understanding of permitting requirements across the southwestern US.
Established business development credentials and client focus in the environmental siting and permitting in support of energy transmission projects (electric)
Established track record of successfully preparing/directing the preparation of environmental siting and permitting submittals for energy generation and transmission projects including electric transmission facilities
Some regional travel required in the Southwestern US.
Specific applied experience with an environmental consulting firm and/or regulated energy utility company in an environmental programs capacity
Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to utilize critical thinking, a flexible approach to problem solving, excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written), planning, and organizational skills; and attention to detail
14years of Environmental Consulting experience and/or energy industry experience focused on environmental permitting/siting
