What You Will Do:As Gannett Fleming continues to grow and expand, we are looking for atalented Senior Hydraulic Engineerwith a strong interest in and experiencewith a variety of hydraulic gates systems for dams and other similar hydraulicstructures to support our Dams and Hydraulics Team at any one of the followingoffices: Roseville (Sacramento), CA; Phoenix, AZ; Denver,CO; Salt Lake, UT; Pittsburgh or Harrisburg, PA.Gannett Fleming is recognized as a national leader in dams and water resourcesengineering, providing a comprehensive range of engineering services fordams, flood control, water supply, and transportation projects - fromplanning, engineering analysis and design through construction managementand decommissioning. We rely on our hydraulic engineers to deliver qualityresults that will actively engage our clients and advance our company forward.As a Senior Hydraulic Engineer, you will need to be a driven, motivateddesigner with practical knowledge in the mechanical, structural, andengineering materials aspects of hydraulic gate and valve systems for a widerange of water resources facilities, in addition to a passion forengineering analysis, design and computer modeling. You must be able towrite effectively and work in a team-oriented environment.You will also review project site conditions, implement engineeringanalysis, and design methods, and provide technical assistance to staffand clients for a wide variety of water resources related hydraulic gate andvalve projects.Responsibilities:Support mechanical and structural analysis and design of hydraulic gate andvalve systems for new dams, dam rehabilitation, and flood control projectsas well as for other similar hydraulic structures.Perform analysis and design of new or refurbishment of existing hydraulic gateand valve systems for a wide range of gate types including Tainter/radial,roller/wheel, sluice/slide, bear-trap/drum, hydraulic cylinder,flap/hinged, stop logs, and large-diameter butterfly valves and gantrycrane syPerform analysis and design and develop repair or replacement alternatives forelectric motor, hydraulic, and manually actuated hoist and operatingequipment.Perform analysis and design and develop repair or replacement alternatives forexisting gate and valve seals and sealing systems.Evaluate potential means and methods to isolate and install new or refurbishexisting gate systems including the use of standard and floating bulkheads andstoplogs.Develop designs and specifications for trashracks at hydraulic gate and valvesystem installations.Conduct field reviews of project sites to assess existing conditions and totroubleshoot inoperability issues and system malfunctions.Develop specifications for corrosion protection systems including paintcoatings and corrosion mitigation systems (e.g. cathodic protection,etc.) for hydraulic gates and valve systems.Prepare technical reports and present findings to clients.Education |Experience:Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in mechanical, structural, or civil engineering5-20 years of experienceRegistered Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one U.S. stateMasters' Degree with emphasis in mechanical, structural, or civil engineering.Experience with:Difficult access / rope access inspections.Field testing including use of strain gages, etc.Metallurgic field and laboratory testing and other destructive andnon-destructive test methods.Assessment, design and inspection of paint coating systems and corrosionmitigation systems.Electrical, instrumentation and controls system associated with hydraulicgate and valve systems.Field inspection, condition assessment, analysis, and design experiencewith a variety of hydraulic gate and valve systems commonly used at dams andother water resources facilities.Equipment startup testing and operator training for hydraulic gate and valvesystems.Ability to prepare construction contract plans and specifications and clientcontracts.Company Overview:AtGannett Fleming, we believe inimpr
