Burns & McDonnell Staff Mechanical Engineer in Denver, Colorado

Description

This position will be responsible for the successful completion of a diverse range of commercial and manufacturing facilities projects. Project scopes will include but are not limited to design and construction of mechanical (HVAC), plumbing, piping, hydronic, and process systems. Projects and clients will include airports, universities, industrial facilities, commercial facilities, government facilities, and other facilities associated with the power generation, water treatment, oil and gas, aerospace, and manufacturing industries.

Key responsibilities for this position will include:

  • Preparing plans, specification, and studies and assisting with cost estimates and construction administration.

  • Provide advanced technical advice to project staff and serve as project discipline engineer on projects.

  • Direct coordination with internal and external clients with a responsibility to potentially act independently on technical matters.

  • Takes responsible charge of the mechanical discipline on projects and mentors assistant mechanical engineers and designers in development of mechanical design.

  • Some marketing and project proposal responsibilities.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in mechanical or architectural engineering from accredited program.

  • Minimum 3 years of related experience (completion of master's degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience). Experience shall include construction industry, consulting, and design-build project experience.

  • Experience with industry standard commercial HVAC, Plumbing, and controls systems and equipment is required.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the United States in good standing is strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge and experience with ASHRAE standards, ICC Codes, and IAPMO Codes.

  • Experience with energy and HVAC load calculation software is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills and strong analytical & problem-solving skills.

  • Capable of working effectively in a team setting or independently.

  • Capable of thinking creatively and devising new approaches to problems encountered.

  • Experience with manufacturing, aerospace, and commercial facility design and equipment is preferred.

  • Previous consulting experience strongly preferred.
