KLJ Engineer Intern- Transportation in Englewood, Colorado

DescriptionThis posting is scheduled to start May 2021.Position PurposeAs an Engineer Intern you will work closely with task managers and designleads to gain practical on-the-job experience and understanding of KLJengineering and design standards. Interns gain fundamental engineering basicsthat align with ensuring KLJ continues to provide exceptional service to ourclients. Position will experience design, quality calculations, plan sheetdevelopment, engineering reports, construction administration and otherproject deliverables.Essential FunctionsApply knowledge of fundamental civil engineering principles and standards toindividual project tasksLearn and utilize design software to apply engineering standards of designConstruction observation/inspection and administrationEnsure compliance with KLJ quality standardsUtilize effective written and oral communicationResponsibilitiesAssist with elements of project design including calculation of quantities forcost estimating and bidding purposesIncrease design competency in software(s) associated with typical projectrequirementsBecome familiar with details of putting together a set of plansEffectively convey engineering analysis and results in written reports anddocumentationPerform construction administration duties such as documenting activities,providing general oversight, and interacting with contractors,sub-contractors, residents and others.May assist with preparation for public/client meetingsQualificationsA high school diploma studying a degree in Civil or Electrical EngineeringEngineer-In-Training Certification or ability to obtain before becoming anEngineer in TrainingMust possess basic MS Office skills including Word and Excel.Must have a valid driver's license and able to operate motorized vehiclesPreferences:Previous Internship Experience in related fieldHours and TravelThis position requires the individual work 40 or more hours per week.
