Sierra Nevada Corporation Mass Properties Engineer III in Englewood, Colorado

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Provide mass properties engineering in accordance with industry standards andSociety of Allied Weight Engineers (SAWE) best practices. Analyze massproperties impacts of internal and external modifications, and impacts tosystems and subsystems. Analyze and account for changes in mass propertiesthroughout program lifecycle.Model and calculate mass properties data to support all phases of projectdevelopment. Translate customer requirements into mass models for developmentof mission profiles. Analyze mission configurations using 2D drawings and 3DCAD. Generate mass properties distributions for modifications and integratewith OEM data for input to structural loads models. Manage subcontractorefforts related to mass properties including vendor weight control. Leadweight reduction tasks.Articulate mass properties requirements, risks, opportunities, andstatus at formal design reviews to both internal and external customers.Generate FAA and DoD mass properties documentation meeting requirements ofairworthiness certification including weight and balance manuals,supplements, and equipment lists.Perform weight and balance measurements of components and final products.Coordinate mass properties requirements with multi-disciplinary teamsincluding maintenance, production, logistics support, flight test,flight operations and other disciplines.Must-haves:Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relateddiscipline and typically 6 or more years of relevant experienceDemonstrated knowledge of systems engineering principles and practicesExperience with Computer Aided Engineering tools, including 3D CAD/CAMtools (Solidworks, CATIA, etc)Familiarity with SAWE and American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics(AIAA) Recommended Practices and StandardsProgressive experience working in multi-disciplinary design and developmentteamsDesire for new challenges, to be on the ground floor of an excitingcapability for our nation, and to be part of the initial cadre developing anew multi-domain system.Willingness to work on a small team performing complex engineering designevaluations for a diverse mission where everyone's input matters.An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance with SAP eligibility requiredPreferred:Exposure to simulations through functional and logical models and systemanalysisBackground in the Aerospace and Defense IndustryFamiliarity with aerospace system design and integration, manufacture, andmaintainability, including familiarity with best practices in mechanical,electrical, and systems design.Familiarity with Automated Weight and Balance System (AWBS) and FAAairworthiness regulations.Familiarity with preparation and development of project estimates, technicalproposals, and program cost and schedule management.An active Top Secret with SCI eligibility US Security clearance.IMPORTANT NOTICE:This position requires current/active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
