SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER - ICS LINCOLN CAMPUS (1801296)Position Purpose:The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) position has a strong understanding ofQuality methods and systems. The SQE is responsible for implementation andexecution of methods and programs to ensure that suppliers have systems thatmeet specifications and standards. This position interfaces with the sourcingteam and communicates direction to suppliers on issues such as; qualityperformance improvement, part approval process, sampling plans,inspection methods, measurement system analysis, statistical processcontrol contract reviews, problem investigations, evaluation of qualitysystems, and product transition activity.Essential Functions:Executes quality portion of MRB / non-conformance product issues usingestablished systemsExecutes Quality tools that apply to the product and suppliers assigned.Quality Engineering tools such as: contract review, sampling plans,auditing principals, SPC, MSA, First Articles, FMEA, PFMEA,calibration systems, etc. to understand and ultimately resolve issues in thesuApplies demonstrated understanding of the relevant product or customerspecifications, flow down documents, procedures, engineering or processdrawings and regulating agent body requirements that apply to the products andsuppliers assignedIssues, monitors and maintains corrective action databaseWorks effectively with suppliers to resolve problems using Root CauseCorrective Actions (RCCA) toolsAnalyze supplier performance data to determine continuous improvementopportunities to improve supplier performance.Utilizes available data to establish schedules and perform required audits ofassigned suppliersMaintains accurate and current supplier quality records, such as supplieraudits, certifications, corrective action responses, and database screensParticipate with the Sourcing team to select and manage assigned suppliersTravel to assigned suppliers, as necessary (domestic and international)Work and lead multiple projects effectively to closureExecutes established Quality plan for assigned suppliers, based upon:Type and complexity of product being procuredQuality history of supplierRequirements placed upon itemsLevel of suppliers demonstrated process controlSupports and drives continuous improvement activitiesOther Functions:May mentor less experienced SQE's and Supplier Quality Techs, as required.Working Environment / Physical Activities:Work is generally performed in a normal office environment, however the jobmay take the member into various areas of the plant where there is possibleexposure to noise, chemical solutions, dust, and temperatures above 80degrees F.Travel to and work performed in supplier facilities may also expose the memberto stated environments.QualificationsKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:Excellent communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively work at all levelsTeam playerSelf-starting, minimal supervision requiredDetail orientedStrong analytical and critical thinking skillsStrong facilitation skillsSolid understanding of AS9100, ISO-9001, QS-9000 and/or TS-16949Solid understanding of PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and APQP(Advanced Product Quality Planning)Knowledge and experience with Continuous Improvement Methodologies (6Sigma, Lean Mfg. etc.)Solid understanding and previous experience conducting supplier qualityaudits.
