City Of Fort Collins Human Resources Technician II, Traffic Engineer in Fort Collins, Colorado

Job Summary: Work related to the operation and maintenance of a safe and efficienttransportation system using signs, signals, pavement markings,intelligent transportation systems and other programs.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinates work items, scheduling and communication among signalconstruction and maintenance crews, contractors, utility companies,governmental agencies, citizens and others as needed. Assists in generating and reviewing project plans, specifications andbid documents. Develops work area traffic control plans and applies for traffic controlpermits related to signal work. Interprets blueprints and specifications for construction crews to insurecompliance with regulations governing construction. Verifies signal layouts and installation. Observes work in progress toensure that procedures are followed and materials used conform tospecifications. Initiates and comprehensively manages work orders,billings/invoicing, material requisitions, reports and other forms andreports as needed. Maintains daily logs of construction and inspection activities andprepares and reviews progress reports. Records quantities of materials received used to insure compliance withspecifications and construction budget allocations. Oversees signal storeroom including monitoring, auditing, and orderingsignal materials. Provides technical support and maintains databases for management oftraffic signal assets including the use of GIS/AutoCAD.Management Responsibilities:NoCity Competencies: Demonstrated cultural competence to effectively interact, work, anddevelop meaningful relationships with people of diverse identities,perspectives and cultural backgrounds. Proficient in asset management and GIS software Proficient word processing and data entry skills. Ability to prepare bid specifications and understanding of City sprocurement process. Ability to use computer software to prepare documents and graphics. Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, prepare constructiondrawings.Education and Experience:MINIMUM/PREFERRED EDUCATION LEVEL DESCRIPTIONRequired High School Diploma or GED and or functionally related licenses orcertificatesPreferred College degree or equivalent work experience.
