Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. is recruiting for an Environmental Scientist / Technical Report Writer in Grand Junction, CO.

  • Support defense-related uranium mine (DRUM) program goals of completing the environmental sampling and reporting of thousands of DRUM Sites.

  • Report writer needs to work independently with little supervision and produce high quality reports.

  • Report writer will produce 2-3 reports per week and be able to work with a team of writers, GIS specialists, field team representatives, and technical editors. Writers must be able to understand and evaluate mine and environmental data and be able to use established risk screening criteria to assess a site’s risk. Must be detailed oriented and be able to identify inconsistencies among text, table, and figures in a report.


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, geology, biology, or related technical degree.

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.

  • Experience writing technical reports that contain environmental data.

  • A working knowledge of environmental data, mining, or geology.

  • Excellent writing and organizational skills with an eye for detail and consistency.

  • Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability to use or quickly learn to use ARC Reader to access information collected by the field teams. Past experience performing environmental sampling (soil and water) and writing reports documenting results would be preferred.
