Core Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Direct the coordinated development of new portioning solutions and improvements of current solutions to deliver on objectives of the annual business plans

  • Work with outside portioning suppliers to advise their teams in areas of product formulation and yields. Identify and use different methods of creative idea generation by staff for new product concepts or product improvements

  • Investigate for product and process challenges; provide creative solutions to solve challenges in development and commercialization

  • Work with other departments (Manufacturing, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality and Purchasing) to determine equipment, materials and processes necessary for portioning to maximize capacity and optimize product quality and differentiation

  • Insure accurate product information input to Cost Accounting to maintain the integrity of data entered into manufacturing management systems

  • Identify and complete technical study of ingredients, suppliers, co-packers relevant to meeting project objectives and meeting Pilgrim's standards

  • Understand the needs of the customer in the target market segments. Coordinate and participate in key customer product presentations.

  • Work closely with customer and sales team to develop relationships, products and appropriate technical documentation to meet or exceed expectations.

  • Be knowledgeable on current market trends and portioning technology through participation in food shows, sales meeting, technical presentations, reviewing periodicals, and partnerships with suppliers

  • Owner of product specifications in SAP

  • Document all testing procedures and prepare recommended production procedures

  • Recommend, evaluate and advocate new product concepts which should be taken to next level of development

Education and Experience:

  • BS in Food Science or related field plus a minimum of 3 to 5 years relevant work experience and has worked in a production plant setting

  • Travel up to 50% of time.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects

  • Possesses effective presentation skills and is highly motivated
