Merrick is a market leader in projects involving theconversion of biomass to high value products including fuels, proteins,and bioeconomy products. The Senior Process Engineer will support and continueto build Merrick's growing bioprocessing practice.Job DescriptionProcess engineer to work primarily on cutting edge industrial biotechnologyand energy projects. The successful candidate will be placed in a keyengineering role, working within a multi-disciplinary team to deliverengineering on projects. The candidate needs to have experience engaging withclients especially during early project development stages.Scope/Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for the following activities:Prepares basis of design and reviews process design deliverables.Prepares process flow diagrams and mass and energy balances.Analyzes equipment specifications and performance requirements to determineappropriate designs.Prepares PandID's working with multi-disciplined Merrick team.Reviews and checks the work of other process engineers to determine accuracyand completeness.Coordination of design inputs and design activities with other engineeringdisciplines in a team environment.Ability and desire to perform process engineering activities as well as lead asmall team of Process Engineers and Designers, and work as the Process Leadon medium to large projects.Able to handle multiple projects/tasks at the same time.Able to interface directly with project managers relative to the overallexecution of the project.Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below arerepresentative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Education/Experience:Bachelor's degree (B. S.) Chemical Engineering from an Accredited Program.Minimum of Ten (10) years related experience and/or training.Experience in bioprocessing in the fields of biofuels, bioproducts, foodsand protein production.Individuals with chemical or oil and gas industry experience may be consideredif they have some bioprocessing experience and a passion for the expandingbioeconomy.Reasoning Ability:Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and drawvalid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions inmathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concretevariables.Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual shouldhave knowledge of Microsoft Office software. In addition, experience in thefollowing process software packages is advantageous:Aspen PlusAspen HYSYSAspen Capital Cost EstimatorCertificates and Licenses: PE strongly preferred.
