With this technology, we build up material in layers using a high intensity laser until it becomes a solid product. Unlike conventional production techniques, this one does not render any material loss, nor does it require any tooling. It does however, enable the designers to manufacture very complex geometries which are not producible using the traditional techniques.
As a versatile Applications Engineer in the global 3D Systems Direct Metal Printing (DMP) team, you will focus on developing customer applications for metal additive manufacturing. Development goes from initial benchmark and feasibility studies through validation and verification processes prior to release to a design or technical transfer to volume manufacturing, either internal or external.
In this job, you will not only collaborate with your Manufacturing, Quality and Applications Engineering colleagues world-wide but you can also rely on the knowledge and experience of colleagues from other 3D Systems divisions.
In your role as Applications Engineer-Advanced Manufacturing you are a central point of contact for customer projects (make or buy) assigned to you within the organization. You are involved in new application development projects from the start where your technical knowledge and expertise are essential for their success. You are a steward of the project, along with your project team, through the application development lifecycle. Using a project management approach you define and deliver your projects in time and within budget.
Support sales meetings from a technical point of view and support trade shows.
Following internal procedures for product development, collaborate with project teams in the development of new applications through to design transfer or technical transfer to internal or external customers.
Collaborate with quality engineers, manufacturing engineers and customer engineering teams to deliver the optimal solution to the customer.
Participate in customer project meetings and efforts to translate and understand part, project, and validation requirements. Coordinate information gathering, and manage internal efforts to implement changes as required.
Using project management tools and with internal project managers, keep current a large portfolio of development projects across a wide range of applications. Provide regular updates to both internal and external stakeholders.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or science; and/or equivalent by experience.
Experience with Additive Manufacturing is a plus.
Experience in medical devices (ISO 13485) is required.
A strong commitment to providing excellent customer service.
Professional demeanor with excellent communication skills.
Excellent computer skills.
Proficient in CAD-software such as: 3DXpert, Magics, Solid Works.
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $91,600 - $137,300 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the candidate, and alignment with market data)
In addition to a salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus based upon company performance.
