Lockheed Martin Mechanical Engineering Manager in Littleton, Colorado

Description: Come be a part of the development of the new Hypersonic Conventional Strike Weapon (HCSW). This new air-launched weapon system will include phases progressing through design, flight test, initial production and deployment of the weapon system. Manager of the Mechanical Engineering Design group for the Hypersonic Conventional Strike Weapon (HCSW) Booster IPT team reporting to the Booster IPT Senior Manager.

Manage mechanical engineers leading all mechanical design efforts including solid rocket propulsion, structures, attitude control systems, separation systems, ordnance, flight termination systems and mechanical ground support equipment. This manager shall ensure technical program execution and deliver products consistent with program needs, provide technical oversight and mentoring, and promote standard technical processes and best practices. Perform management duties including scheduling, tasking and reporting status. Perform Leader duties including partnering with Program and Functional leadership for performance assessments, career development, promotions and compensation, and training and technical development.

At least a Bachelor of Science degree from an

accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

Basic Qualifications:

Multiple years of experience designing, fabrication

and/or integrating missiles or launch vehicles/spacecraft mechanical products

(structures, mechanisms, thermal products, propulsion, ordnance, cabling, ground support equipment, mechanical integration and test).

Familiarity with the flight and ground systems mechanical design, propulsion and ordnance and cabling requirements, hardware design and build, analyses, integration and test. Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, propose and manage budgets, schedules and resources.

Demonstrated ability to organize, motivate, and lead groups of engineering personnel, with proven

leadership attributes.

Strong technical skills in aerospace mechanical engineering, and/or full life cycle (requirements

definition, design, analysis, hardware/software integration, support of procurement, fabrication,

integration/test, and delivery) experience for mechanical assemblies.

Extensive experience in mechanical hardware design with CAD tools.

Experience with problem resolution, failure investigation, root case analysis and implementing effective corrective action. Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences.

Demonstrated commitment to development and deployment of productivity/performance

improvements and leveraging new technologies.

Current Secret Clearance (or higher clearance) needed.

Desired Skills:

Considered a technical leader in mechanical design,

analysis, integration, or test. Previously demonstrated

leadership experience of a small group or team.

Demonstrated ability for technical mentoring. Ability

to work closely with engineering functional and

program management, and with other Mechanical

Design leaders. Demonstrated knowledge across all

disciplines in Structures and Thermal Products, other

engineering directorates, and manufacturing.

Demonstrated ability to provide personal and technical leadership and guidance. Ability and

willingness to work functional duties with limited

budget, requiring occasional extended hours. Hands-on

hardware fabrication and assembly experience. SMD

strategic systems experience. Certified Principal

Engineer (CPE). Experience modeling/drafting.

Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing. Appropriate degree from an accredited college, or

equivalent experience/combined education, with

professional experience and specialized training

commensurate with assignment.
