Lockheed Martin Mechanical Engineering / Thermal Engineer in Littleton, Colorado

Description: This job requires the employee to perform and/or lead thermal analyses of various spacecraft components including component boxes internal to spacecraft support structure and externally mounted components exposed to the space environment. Other tasks include coordinating model inputs with other program groups including power, materials, mechanical design, mass properties and systems. The employee will be expected to document analysis results in engineering memorandum and reports as well as present the results to internal and external customers. In addition, the employee will be supporting development and execution of thermal tests with varying complexity. The employee must develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity, and work without appreciable direction and exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives and approaches to assignment.

Basic Qualifications:

Knowledge and application of thermophysics principles and analytical methods. Must be capable of summarizing analysis results, creating engineering documentation (reports and charts) and possess presentation skills.

Desired Skills:

Strong analytical skills related to the design and analysis of spacecraft thermal control subsystems, includes proficiency utilizing thermal analysis modeling tools such as Thermal Desktop and SINDA. Possess engineering and operational experience with spacecraft thermal control subsystem hardware and software. Experience with testing thermal hardware in complex systems. If a candidate doesn't currently have all these skills they should have the appropriate background and aptitude for developing these skills.
