Optical Mechanical Engineer - Denver, CO / Houston, TX

We are currently looking for an Opto-mechanical Engineer to join a rapidly growing company headquartered in Denver, CO.

In this role as an Opto-mechanical engineer you will participate with a team of highly skilled mechanical engineers, laser engineers and technicians in the development of very high power laser based tools used in the field. This position will be based primarily in the Denver, CO area in the design center but willl require travel one week a month to the testing facility in Houston, TX. This position will require experience working with high pressure testing and mechanical stress analysis as well as thermal analysis.

Experience :

  • The ideal candidate would have at least 5+ years experience in developing industrial or high energy military grade lasers or laser processing technology.

  • Candidate should have experience with mounting optical components and mechanically tolerancing optical systems.

  • Candidate should be used to working in a product development environment.

  • Ideal candidate will have successfully worked on a team that has designed, developed and deployed a ruggedized optical system in harsh environments.

  • Exceptional candidates with downhole oil, gas, or geothermal tool experience will be considered. (Opto-mechanics will be taught on the job).

Skills:

  • The candidate must be a high energy, detail oriented team member.

  • Experience with Optical design, Computational Fluid Dynamics, opto-mechanical positional tolerancing, and FEA analysis of mechanical and thermal loads is desired.

  • Able to work with 3-D design software such as Solid Works.

  • Ability to accurately communicate results and record experimental procedure is essential.

  • Good hands on ability – oversight and hands on participation of lab testing of designed components and systems is required of all engineers at all levels.

Education : BS Degree in Opto Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, Advanced Degree preferred.
