Job Description

The Tooling Designer has responsibility for conception and creation of new tools designs, fixtures, machines, and gages for Honeybee Robotics. They will support project teams as a technical expert with an understanding of the manufacturing requirements of our products.

Tooling designers collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers, Operators, and Design Engineers to develop functional tools, design layouts, perform supporting technical calculations, and generate detailed tooling drawings.

• Develop 3D tooling/fixture models to meet program requirements

• Select material specification to meet design and usage requirements

• Generate 2D drawings for complete tool/fixture definition.

• Familiar with manufacturing methods, poka-yoke, SMED, ergonomics, etc.

• Coordinates analyses with Analytical Engineers

• Support project and operations teams

• Support existing products and product upgrades

• Participate in failure analysis activities

• Performs design trade studies and hand calculations

• Perform tolerance studies

• Support bid and proposal activities.

Requirements:

The successful candidate must have a BS/MS in an engineering discipline and a minimum of 5 years of tooling design of aerospace and defense products.

Required experience includes:

• Demonstrated experience generating 3D models & 2D drawings.

• Basic understanding of methods used to analyze tool performance

• Understands requirements in customer and aerospace specifications and how they apply to design

• Understands GD&T and how it affects part cost

• Understanding of ASME Y14.100-2004 and ASME Y14.5M-1994

• Strong communication skills for interaction with various functions responsible for

Desired Skills:

• Experience with SolidWorks preferred.
