The work of ourSpace Systems team not only supports the U.S. government (includingNASA), but also commercial customers and international organizations.In this role, you will primarily lead secondary structures development. Youwill help develop requirements and mechanical interface controldrawings/documents for these installations. You will lead conceptual,preliminary and critical design reviews. You will perform detailed design ofprimary and secondary flight structures, design of GSE test hardware,design review planning and execution, test planning and coordination, andnon-conformance evaluation.Primary Responsibilities:Support the development of the structural subsystems for the Dream ChaserCargo System. Responsibilities will include design, analysis,production, testing, and integration of development and flight hardware.Familiarity with fiber reinforced polymer composites design is required.Ability to manage and execute on structural design tasks from concept toproduct implementationOriginate specifications, control documents, verification and validationplans, procedures, reports, or other documentation in support of designand development activitiesPrepare material for, and conduct, periodic design reviewsExecute engineering design and development activities consistent with Customerquality, cost, and schedule requirementsMust-haves:Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplineand typically 6 or more years of relevant experiencePractical knowledge of engineering principles and practicesExperience with Computer Aided Engineering toolsFamiliarity working in multi-disciplinary design and development teamsPreferred:Understanding ofapplying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning andTolerancing (GDandT) per ASME Y14.5Experience in Engineering Simulation such as Finite Element structuralAnalysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and Thermal AnalysisBackgroundin the Aerospace and Defense IndustryKnowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, to include,but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, materialhardware selection, manufacturing, and production processesThe ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required.IMPORTANT NOTICE:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a U.S.citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual asdefined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the requiredauthorizations from the U.S. Department of State.At Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) we deliver customer-focused technologyand best-of-breed integrations in the aerospace and defense sectors.
