Lockheed Martin Mechanical Engineer in Louisville, Colorado

Description: We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join the Active Sensing group within the Optical Payloads Center of Excellence. Located in Louisville, CO, and part of the Engineering & Technology MFO in Lockheed Martin Space, this group delivers innovative active systems, along with the corresponding subsystems and components, for defense, aerospace, industrial, and scientific markets. This position will support the Active Sensing group 50% of the time, with the remaining 50% supporting the F-35 Cyber group also located in Louisville, CO. Due to the variety of the work products, the candidate will need a flexible and adaptable skill set, with a strong desire for learning. This position will perform engineering design and drafting roles, so the candidate will need a product development mindset and engineering skills with experience in 3D modeling and mechanical design. Knowledge of opto-mechanical design and electronics packaging is preferred. The role will include developing concepts using 3D CAD modeling software, holding design reviews, developing and releasing engineering drawings, and supporting change activities. Must be comfortable within a rapid development environment and be able to execute within short timeline. A successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to multitask, good organizational skills, computer literacy, and a demonstrated ability to thrive in a team environment.

Desired Skills: Proficient with CAD modeling, drafting and release in Creo/EPDM

Familiarity with Lockheed Martin specifications/tools/procedures

Experience with test methods, planning and execution

Experience with space-suitable materials and processes

Demonstrated working knowledge of design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA)

Knowledge of additive manufacturing techniques and familiarity with additive mfg design

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

BSME from an accredited university +5 years of professional experience; or MSME with 3+ years of professional experience.

Familiarity with CAD as tool for layout, concept definition, design, and drafting of mechanical hardware

Knowledge and understantding on how to apply ASME Y14.5 / GD&T

Experience with optical/opto-mechanical design priciples

Knowledge of manufacturing processes and documentation including machining, fabrication and assembly

Demonstrated knowledge of other disciplines including stress, dynamics, thermal analysis, production, electronics, systems engineering, etc.

Experience working with procurement, suppliers, manufacturing and integration organizations

Able to provide technical solutions to design issues of significant scope and complexity

Ability to work within multidisciplinary product development teams

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

Hands-on mechanical hardware manufacturing, test or assembly experience

Experience with Atlassian tool suite

Administering Confluence server

Exporting documents and formatting them from Confluence

Jira experience: building workflows, adding custom fields, setting project permissions, creating scripts in JIRA for custom applications, and significant knowledge base to train staff in operation and administration of JIRA and Atlassian tool suites

Able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI government security clearance
