Our fun, fast-paced and collaborative teamdesigns, builds, and flies the Dream Chaser Cargo System, an ambitiousflagship program to create our Nation's only commercially reusable spaceplane. With your help, we will conduct many safe and successful missionsover the next decade to deliver critical cargo to and from the InternationalSpace Station. These flights for NASA will enable us to build an unprecedentedcommercial space transportation network around the Dream Chaser, whichprovides affordable, cutting-edge orbital capability and return to Earthservices onto runways around the globe. The future of space transportation isnIn this role, you will primarily be responsible for performing structuralanalysis, using finite element methods and hand calculations. You will beassigned structural analysis tasks that may include structural sizing forprimary and secondary structure, non-conformance evaluations, mass tradestudies, test analysis, model correlation, and conceptual level studiesPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Support the development of primary and secondary flight structures for theDream Chaser Cargo System through structural analysis, using both finiteelement methods and hand calculations.Proficiency with FEMAP/NASTRAN analysis tools and methodsFamiliarity with fiber reinforced polymer composites analysis includingclassical laminate theory and finite element modeling techniques is required.The analysts will work with test engineers to develop full-scale testconditions that successfully envelop flight conditions for critical failuremodes.Originate specifications, control documents, verification and validationplans, procedures, reports, or other documentation in support of designand development activitiesPrepare material for, and conduct, periodic design reviewsExecute engineering design and development activities consistent with Customerquality, cost, and schedule requirementsADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Static test analysis and test correlationLaminate optimizationDynamic loads analysisDevelopment and application of spacecraft and aircraft loads and environmentsFamiliarity with progressive failure analysis and damage toleranceFamiliarity with NASA and/or FAA structural analysis standardsFollow SNC policies, procedures and work instructions for all technicalactivitiesPunctuality to work each day and prepared to work scheduled work hoursOther duties as assignedCOMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for thoughtful adherence to all SNC Policies, Procedures, andCompliance regulations (internal and external)Responsible for timely execution of all personnel-related activities such asTime Sheet completion, Performance Evaluations, Salary Reviews,Succession Planning, etc.Responsible for leadership oversight and for ensuring Department/Team trainingESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Minimum physical requirements to perform all duties and responsibilities, asdefined by managementEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:Requires a BS in Related Field.Must have 6+ years related experience.Ability to rapidly work with minimal supervision on projects involving bothsmall and large engineering teamsPrevious experience and skills in project definition, simulation,implementation, lab integration and testMust be able to work in a highly collaborative, fast paced environment withemphasis in rapid prototypingIMPORTANT NOTICES:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a U.S.citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual asdefined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the requiredauthorizations from the U.S. Department of State.Sierra Nevada Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Employer Minority / Female / Disability / Vet
