This position has the responsibility and authority to lead a team of Test Engineers to develop and perform verification validation activities for software and systems to ensure Medtronic’s cutting-edge medical products meet our user’s needs and our quality and reliability standards.This position requires technical expertise and provides team leadership to solve complex technical problems with ingenuity and creativity.Position contributes to strategic direction for all aspects of Test Engineering including programs to positively impact development, production, installation, and service of products to the global marketplace.Work is performed under limited direction.
The Restorative Therapies Group develops life-restoring therapies and healthcare solutions that span the care continuum; integrating technologies and applying clinical and economic evidence to increase patient access, improve efficiency of procedures and deliver successful patient outcomes.
A Day in the Life
The Test Engineering Manager is responsible for strategic and tactical execution of Test Engineering activities and developing, supporting and growing a highly engaged diverse and inclusive team.Specific tasks include:
Directs and coordinates activitiesof assigned staff to ensure project timeliness to goals, objectives, andmilestones.
Recruits, hires and develops TestEngineering staff.
Ensures compliance with standardsand regulations, including ISO and FDA QSR.
Participate in all phases ofproduct development as needed such as reviewing requirements, design,usability, risk assessment and defects.
Provide technical leadership andmentoring to other test engineers.
Responsible for trackingdepartmental project execution metrics that help gauge the performance ofthe test organization.
Identifies plans and executes testprocess improvements as a means to continually improve the performance ofthe Test Engineering team.
Formulates and maintains testengineering objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
Develops new approaches to solve problems.
Maintain proficiency in the use oftesting tools and methodologies.
Effectively communicate and presentfindings, problems, and solutions within the team, organization, andoutside the organization including recommendations for actions andprioritization.
Collaborate and maintain excellentworking relationships with team members and stakeholders.
Must Have: MinimumRequirements
·BS / BA degree
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
5+ years of project/team managementexperience with BS/BA (3+ with advanced degree)
3+ years of progressive leadershipexperience in functional area or related field
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE HIGHLYPREFFERED
·Experience with verification and validation or design of complex software and hardware systems
·Understanding of software development methodologies and software lifecycle
·Ability to work in a team environment

·Proven leadership skills and mentoring capabilities
·Able to handle multiple tasks/projects and manage priorities
·Experience with Agile and iterative development practices
·Strong understanding of federal and international medical device regulations, such as FDA QSR, ISO 14971, 62304, and 13485, and EU MDR
·Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications, time management, and organizational skills
·Engineering management experience in a regulated environment
·Experience managing contractors and offshore teams
