Danaher Corporation Sr. Director, Global Quality in Loveland, Colorado

POSITION SUMMARY: The primary role of this position is to provide global leadership and direction and hands on involvement regarding quality and continuous improvement, using the Danaher Business System (DBS) implementation in support of global strategic and policy deployment objectives for the organization. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and provides global recommendations for the identification and selection of improvement projects.

  • Drive the development of quality related policy deployment and KPI objectives.

  • Collaborate with internal customers including sales team to continuously improve customer complaint process.

  • Lead our Medical Device Regulatory strategy including global product registrations, quality systems readiness, ISO 13485 and MDSAP, Medical Device change control and compliant complaint process.

  • Coordinate all quality actions through & across all functional areas & departments.

  • Work with new product development teams on Design for Six Sigma and Design for Manufacturability aimed at improving product quality and reliability.

  • Lead the development and maintenance of supplier quality objectives including qualification process and supplier corrective actions, with special focus on manufacturing process controls.

  • Monitor and reports on quality metrics and progress toward quality goals including internal, incoming and external quality and complaint handling process.

  • Develop a global quality management systems to drive best practices in quality system compliance, efficiency and readiness for new standards implementation

  • Lead Hach to the implementation of a global document control and Learning Management System

  • Provide direction and expert level guidance within Hach and Danaher for best practices in Problem solving, manufacturing process controls, and continuous improvement tools

  • Work with operations team to implement quality control tools and processes to control processes, improve yields and reduce scrap and rework.

  • Drive “Best Practices” across the global business and develops staff in the Quality culture to meet business performance criteria.

  • Initiate and participate in Danaher and non-Danaher benchmarking to ensure the organization is creating best-in-class processes and business results.

  • Develop team that maximizes the potential of each group and team member.

  • Lead global team of Quality Managers in coordinating support and maintenance of our ISO quality system.

  • Support Open Innovation and Acquisition activities as needed.


  • Appropriately leads, teaches and coaches problem solving tools to drive business results and organizational development.

  • Views problems and organizational conflicts as opportunities to drive the business forward.

  • Creates a clear vision and strategy that is based on a thorough understanding of the business.

  • Demonstrates deep understanding of the needs and expectations of the customers.

  • Ensures clarity flows up, down and across the organization.


  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in a technical discipline (Physical Sciences or Engineering). Master’s degree preferred.

  • In depth knowledge and/or formal training in quality principles and technical tools (Quality Systems, problem analysis, statistical tools, design of experiments, design for six sigma, control charts and other quality methodologies) with the ability to train and provide consultation.

  • Black Belt Six Sigma preferred

  • 8 or more years’ experience in a manufacturing or quality environment including experience in leading global cross-functional teams.

  • Has experience with a FDA-compliant design control, change control, process control and quality system management related to medical devices.

  • Demonstrated computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, statistical tools).

  • Experience in setting strategic direction while analyzing problems and improve products and processes.

  • Experience in providing concise executive summaries of quality issues, changes needed or made, results delivered.
