Transportation Technology Center Engineer (Mechanical and Vehicle Train Interaction) in Pueblo, Colorado

Position: Engineer (Mechanical and Vehicle Train Interaction)Duties: The staff engineer for test and analytical projects providesprofessional engineering and scientific services to internal and externalcustomers as directed by the VP-Engineering Services, focusing on mechanicalsystems, dynamics, and vehicle-track interaction. Participates in railroadfield testing, data analysis, report writing, using mathematicalmodels, and enacting project management. Depending on projectrequirements, some domestic and/or international travel (5-10%) maybe requiredThe conditions herein represent those that an employee must meet to performthis job's essential functions successfully. Must be able to walk in anindustrial and/or railroad environment, including uneven surfaces such asballast.Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; visionsufficient to read computer screens and printed documents.Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Engineering or closely related field.Driver's LicenseOther Requirements:Must demonstrate good analytical capability and have a working knowledge ofrecognized software packages for data analysis.Experience analyzing, testing, and/or modeling dynamic systems.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Must know/experience designing experiments, data collection methods,data analysis methods, authoring technical papers/reports, and makingtechnical presentations.The capability to read and interpret data.Preferred Skills: Bachelor's degree in Engineering and at least two yearsof experience applying engineering principles; or Master's degree inEngineering in lieu of experience.Knowledge/experience in wheel/rail contact issues and rail vehicledynamics, including testing associated with each.Experience in the use of rail vehicle/track interaction or multi-bodydynamics software such as NUCARS , Vampire , or Simpack.Experience with track geometry measurements and analysis.Familiarity with various instrumentation and data collection systems.Experience with project management.Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Solidworks, Minitab , MATLAB, andMicrosoft Office.Demonstrated experience with writing technical reports and presenting results.Proficient in the application of statistical analysis methods.Proficient in the use of FEA software such as ANSYS or LS-DYNA.Experience with programming in MATLAB, Visual Basic, C, C++, C#, and Fortran.Wage: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 Year, exemptShift: Monday-Friday, 7AM -4:30PMBenefits: Medical, dental, vision, railroad retirement,401(k), AAR pension, vacation, and sick leave, ten paid holiday,life and LTD insurance, wellness, tuition reimbursement, and EAP.Application Instructions: If you meet the minimum requirements for thisposition, please click on How to Apply to view application information.
