Evraz Rocky Mountain Steel Mechanical Engineer in Pueblo, Colorado

POSITION: Mechanical EngineerDUTIES: This is a project-based position that will be on a long termcontract. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineer willbe responsible for planning and conducting work requiring judgment in theevaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineeringtechniques, procedures, and criteria. The ideal candidate will haveextensive experience and a high level of knowledge in equipment layout,optimization, value engineering, and detailed alignment of Steel and/oraluminum rolling mill equipment.* Review various OEM and Utility drawings to find the optimal balance betweenlow installed cost while maintaining operability and maintainability* Provide technical support for procurement specifications; qualitycontrol; non-conformance, re-specification, or design; and test applications* Prepare all project documentation, issue contracts, followingfabrication of equipment, install equipment into facilities* Support projects including participation in all interface meetings,providing input to cost and schedule estimates, development of projectreports, presentation of cognizant information, and other related projectsupport identified by project leadership* Specify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw validconclusions.* Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical ordiagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables as theypertain to the project* Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statisticalinference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. * Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportionsto practical situations* Balance cost vs benefit to find the lowest practical installed cost formechanical and fluid systems* Provide technical support for procurement specifications; qualitycontrol; non-conformance, re-specification, or design; and test applications* Preparation of all project documentation, issue contracts, followingfabrication of equipment, install equipment into facilitiesREQUIREMENTS:* Bachelor's degree (BS) in any applicable engineering from anaccredited engineering program; typically, five (5) years of relatedexperience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience* Experience and a high level of knowledge in equipment layout,optimization, value engineering, and detailed alignment ofSteel/Aluminum Rolling Mill Equipment, steel mill startup experience preferred* Expert at balancing cost vs benefit to find the Lowest Practical Installedcost for mechanical and fluid systems. Able to think outside of the box tofind the optimal cost solution* Experience with brownfield/greenfield startup, including EngineeringReviews, Field Changes, Field Routing Changes, etc.* Experience with steel/aluminum mill material handling systems:* Experience in the design, specification, installation, QC/QA, andstartup commissioning of the following:* Experience in Safety, EHS, and ergonomic engineering practices* Experience working in a Heavy Industrial Construction and Plant site* Multiple years of experience, over multiple projects where they havereviewed various OEM and Utility drawings to find the optimal balance betweenlow installed cost while maintaining operability and maintainabilityOTHER REQUIREMENTS* Expert at balancing cost vs benefit to find the Lowest Practical Installedcost for mechanical and fluid systems.
