Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is seeking an experienced Mission Planner familiar with Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN) operations and Low Earth Orbiting (LEO) spacecraft in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and Space Tracking and Surveillance System (STSS) mission. Located at Schriever AFB, CO, the selected candidate will be part of the STSS on-orbit operations group.
Primary mission planning duties will consist of:
Support on-orbit operations throughout the flight demonstration phase
Coordinate mission requirements with 22 SOPS/Range Scheduling to ensure all program commanding and telemetry requirements are met
Brief management and the customer on AFSCN and other related mission planning issues
Perform short and medium term mission planning and participate in long term planning
Identify, select, and schedule spacecraft and payload mission operations and maintenance tasks
Define weekly task plan input for entry into Mission Management (MM)/Chronos planning tool
Generate task schedule and submit the Program Action Plan (PAP) to 22 SOPS
Coordinate and approve the 24-hour AFSCN deconfliction schedule to 22 SOPS
Coordinate with operations engineering to plan/schedule spacecraft and payload operations and maintenance tasks
Coordinate with orbit analyst to validate mission planning requirements/requests against orbital geometry and anomaly planning
Reschedule missed or failed AFSCN contacts
Coordinate mission planning activities between Schriever AFB, CO and the factory support facility (CA)
Generate and maintain the operations support schedule to include the 24-hour acquisition schedule and creation of daily pass plans
Ensure spacecraft commanding/ground perform files, procedures, memograms, and operations alerts are incorporated into the daily schedule
Participate in all operational rehearsals/exercises/operations supplying mission planning products as required
Conduct mission planning tasks in support of MDA test events
This position is primarily day shift but requires on-call support of 24/7 flight operations.
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field (Science/Technology/Engineering/Math) with 9 years related experience in a space operations field; Master's Degree with 7 years related experience in a space operations field
Satellite flight operations command and control experience
Interim Top Secret security clearance is required to start
Ability and willingness to provide on-call support of 24/7 flight operations as needed
Knowledge and experience in satellite operations engineering disciplines to include attitude control, power management, thermal control, propulsion, IR payloads, command and data handling, flight and ground software, and anomaly determination and resolution
10 years of experience in Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN) operations and Low Earth Orbiting (LEO) spacecraft
Understanding of AFSCN operations, specifically in the area of mission planning, and possess general understanding of satellite operations
