JOB SUMMARY:The Structural Engineer II will design structures related to local, state,and federal transportation and highway projects. Primary duties will includestructural design, analysis, planning and review. Position will be basedin Thornton, CO office.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Conduct design of various structure types for transportation-related orcivil projects, including bridges, retaining walls, and other structures Determine structure type and dimensions and conduct preliminary designcalculations during preliminary design phase. Determine appropriate design and analysis approach in consultation withSr. Structural Engineer. Perform structural analysis and prepare design calculations. Using guidance from applicable design code (AASHTO LFRD Bridge DesignCode or IBC Code), apply appropriate loads to structural members anddesign members to satisfy strength limit states and service limit states. Develop sketches and coordinate plan development with CAD technicians. Consult regularly with Senior Structural Engineer. Development of accurate, complete structural details, constructionplans and reports in accordance with engineering best practices utilizing avariety of industry standard software programs. Prepare project deliverables within designated timelines. Preparation ofassociated calculations, reports, and spreadsheets. Prepare structural layouts, construction specifications, andconstruction cost estimates. Adhere to the requirements of the internal Quality Management System (QMS). Work collaboratively with team and to develop detailed design documentsfor construction plans. Regular communication with Project Managers on key issues and projectprogress. Develop, establish, and maintain positive working relationships withour employees, clients, and other business partners. Attend design review meetings and interact positively with clients andconstruction personnel. Ability to travel to meeting and job sites is required. May mentor less experienced engineers Other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: B.S. or higher degree in Structural Engineering Colorado Professional Engineer (P.E.) license 5-10 years of continuous and progressive experience in structural designand analysis, primarily with bridges and transportation structures Working knowledge of structural analysis/design software and finiteelement software Proficiency in use of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InRoads and/orMicrostation software Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including strongskills in Excel Must possess excellent interpersonal and written communications skills Ability to cooperate and work effectively in a team environment Flexibility and demonstrated ability to work effectively on multipleconcurrent projects; ability to prioritize and meet established timelineswhile maintaining accuracy and attention to detailPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: M.S. in Structural Engineering Familiar with Colorado Dept. of Transportation (CDOT) projectdevelopment and local agency process Local candidates only Proficiency in using Microstation InRoads and/or MicrostationOpenRoads software.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Working at computer work station for extended periods. Ability to drive to and observe construction sites as needed.WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office environment with computer work station. Moderate noise level.
