MAXAR Drafting Specialist in Westminster, Colorado

Maxar is seeking a Drafting Specialist to join our team in Palo Alto, CA. In this role, you will design unit packaging and layouts and then perform mechanical design and thermal and structural analysis in support of new units. Drafting services are an important function within the overall engineering effort to specify the design, flow assembly instructions to manufacturing, and flow interface requirements to the spacecraft engineering functions that need to locate units on the spacecraft, provide thermal control, and interconnect units electrically.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft various types of drawings and other documentation to control unit designs, with input from the mechanical design responsible engineers:

  • Source Control drawings

  • Interface Control Drawings

  • Assembly Drawings

  • Detail Mechanical Parts

  • Perform tolerance analysis of parts and assemblies

  • Creates and manages parts lists (bills of materials and processes), drawings, and models. Ensures processes within approved configuration management systems

  • This position will not require any travel

Minimum Requirements :

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

  • Requires 3 years of relevant experience

  • Requires an Associates degree. 2 additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

  • Experience with ANSI Y14.5 dimension and tolerance practices

  • General knowledge of machine shop practices related to the design of machined and additive manufactured (3D printed) parts

Preferred Qualificaitions :

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Physics, or equivalent

  • Proficiency in PTC CREO is preferred, proficiency in Solidworks or other CAD software is acceptable

  • Background in printed wiring board (PWB) design and construction

  • Able to communicate effectively with team members in both oral and written form
