Job SummaryRuns production and performs various technical job functions necessary in newproduct or established manufacturing cells. Reports directly to areaSupervisor; works with Engineers, CNC Programmers and other professionalsto address the technical issues in manufacturing cells.Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesProduction, including set-up and changeoversServe as technical subject matter expert within cell on relevantmachinery/processes.Facilitate problem solving activitiesManage implementation & use of OEE, SPCChampion Standard WorkWrite work order maintenanceWork with Engineers & Programmers to conduct tool tests, FALs, processimprovements, optimal sequences, etc.Train production operators, maintain cross training matrixManage timely calibration of gaugesSupport New Product DevelopmentTroubleshoot and repair machinery problems as authorized.Expected Areas of CompetenceStrong knowledge of all relevant machinery, tooling, measuring, andgauging equipment and use of proper handling methods in assigned areas.Thorough understanding of production processes in area.Knowledge of proper set-ups for machinery, blue-prints, routers, andset-up files.Adequate knowledge of parts required to produce quality assembly perfunctional and cosmetic requirements.Strong knowledge of manufacturing instrumentation (e.g. micrometers,calipers, comparators, etc.), and geometric dimensioning andtolerancing, and blue-print reading.Understanding of lean mfg concepts and objectives.Ability to work effective with all levels of employees including productionemployees, management, and technical professionalsBasic people management skills, supplemented by Zimmer training courses(Insights Discovery, Essential Skills for Managing People, Train theTrainer, etc)Understands Zimmers Quality System including strong familiarity withMeasurement Instruction Sheet layout and purpose, and Zimmers CompliancePolicies.Advocate of Zimmers core values and behaviors.Education/Experience RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED, A thorough technical understanding of functionaldiscipline is required, which may require advanced training or education asrelevant. Lean manufacturing training is preferred.
