The Operations Strategic Support Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from technologies and investments to supply chain, manufacturing and test operations, facilities management, and information technology services.
What You’ll Do:
Perform Lead manufacturing planning tasks associated with the development and/or repetitive manufacture of complex aerospace products.
Understands and effectively uses existing business systems (including Material Requirements Planning (MRP); material and shop floor status reporting).
Utilize both manual and MRP internal tools to plan project materials (reservations, transfers, excess material, etc.) and resources for low-rate and full-rate production products.
Interface with Scheduling group to coordinate and schedule service centers and support labs in support of program manufacturing schedules.
Responsible for kitting/staging the movement/expedite of materials, components and assemblies between manufacturing operations (both in-house and at outside suppliers).
Have an overall understanding of BOM and product structure for assigned programs.
Determine process steps / routing sequence (with consultation from Manufacturing Engineering) to complete and manage shop orders per Quality Business System (QBS) requirements.
Coordinate planning needs with procurement, design, manufacturing, and quality assurance engineering personnel as required.
Provide program status (procurement, cost, schedule status) to engineers, work center leads, and program management in support of program schedules.
Provide group leadership including guidance, direction and establishment of priorities as necessary.
Demonstrate skills needed to support strategic and tactical activities to manage efficient and effective manufacturing execution.
Mentor more junior and new-hire planners.
Actively participate in continuous improvement and training activities.
Support work area performance metrics including 100% “on-time delivery.”
Demonstrate the ability to collaboratively work with management and other team members to achieve the desired results.
Demonstrate willingness to follow work instructions / guidelines IAW the Quality Business System.
Demonstrate willingness to openly and collaboratively communicate. Keep team/department informed.
Demonstrate strong customer-service skills.
Contribute to setting annual performance objectives.
Write and execute annual performance reviews.
Provide input to planning labor estimates for program new business proposals.
Take lead on system tools new releases /testing for planning group.
Participate in hiring process.
Organize team meetings as needed.
Communicate updates to team as needed.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Perform other duties as necessary.
What You’ll Need:
High School diploma or equivalent plus 14 years or more related experience or a related 2-year technical degree and 12 years or more related experience.
Each higher-level degree, i.e., Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
Work is performed in an office environment.
Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
