Se nior Electrical Engineer – EMI/EMC- Current Top Secret Clearance Required
What You’ll Do :
•Define the electronics architecture for spacecraft subsystem and assembly level hardware. This includes: technology assessments, instrument and/or spacecraft requirements flow-down to electronic subsystems, electronic requirements analysis and allocation, electrical subsystem conceptual development/trade studies, design leadership, supporting hardware development efforts for current and future program needs and providing system integration and test support.
•Provide technical leadership and support to instrument remote sensing and/or spacecraft bus programs especially in the areas of EMI/EMC requirements, design, issues and testing (unit level and system level).
•Participate and/or lead activities in all phases of a program life-cycle from concept development to on orbit commissioning.
•Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
•Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
•Perform other duties as necessary.
What You’ll Need:
•BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.
•Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
•Active Top Secret clearance required.
•Experience in developing EMC/EMI requirements for electronics systems for classified programs.
•Strong system level development experience (8 or more years) defining requirements, verification and validation methodologies, buying off requirements to deliver hardware to the next level of integration, etc.
•Strong system level analytical skills including FMECA, WCA, reliability and risk mitigation.
•Technical team leadership experience.
•Knowledgeable in FPGA-based electronics architecture experience.
•Experience with redundant fault tolerant avionics, self-diagnostic and architecture/design.
•In depth awareness of redundant avionic architectures including trade-offs and characteristics of these architectures.
•Familiarity of launch vehicle interface avionics.
•Detailed hardware design experience.
•Knowledgeable of space environmental factors (radiation, Total Ionizing Dose, etc).
•Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, strong presentation skills and the ability to lead group discussions.
•Familiarity with MIL-STD-461/462/1541 and SMC-S-016 requirements and testing is desired.
•Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room, outdoors or remote research environment.
•May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
•May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
•Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
Verification that your current security clearance or government customer access meets the requirement for this position will be required.
